Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Martell Hennessey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anderson Lennox! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lennox throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Hennessey counters with a flying knee. Nice. Hennessey ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Lennox misses with a two punch combination.
Lennox misses with a series of wild punches.
Hennessey keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Lennox. Lennox throws a combination that misses and Hennessey decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lennox's guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Lennox avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hennessey trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hennessey drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hennessey jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hennessey is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Hennessey slips nicely into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hennessey is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Hennessey slips a nice elbow through Lennox's hands, connecting with Lennox's forehead. Hennessey is working for a submission of some sort.
Hennessey seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lennox is looking to escape. Hennessey missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Hennessey is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Hennessey thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Hennessey works his way into side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lennox can do anything to dispel that myth. Hennessey working the ground and pound. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hennessey working the ground and pound but Lennox is defending the strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hennessey lands some shots froms side control. Lennox managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Hennessey.
Hennessey in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Lennox is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
