Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ronnie Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darius Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ronnie Stevens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darius Jones!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones looks to land a combination but Stevens avoids it well.
Jones lands with a cross.
Stevens shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jones but Jones pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Nice takedown defense from Jones. No joy for Stevens on that attempt.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Stevens pushes him off.
Jones catches Stevens with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Jones gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Jones is trying to control the position but Stevens postures up.
Stevens is looking to stand up but Jones won't let him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Stevens trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stevens is breathing heavily.
Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Stevens trying to stand up but can't free himself from Jones's guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Stevens throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Jones counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Jones lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Jones.
Jones throws a right and a left that Stevens avoids nicely.

Stevens closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Stevens stands up.

Stevens closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Stevens lands in his opponent's guard.
Stevens slips nicely into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Stevens looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Stevens decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

A combination from Jones does no damage.
Stevens misses with a takedown
and Jones counters with a stiff right hand.


It looks like Ronnie Stevens has been cut.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronnie Stevens. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jones throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Stevens takes the fight into the clinch.

Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jones misses with a series of wild punches.
Stevens showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jones.

Jones forces Stevens back against the cage and clinches.

Jones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jones throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Stevens.
Stevens has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Jones tries to clinch but Stevens is having none of it.
Jones throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones looks to land a combination. Stevens sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Stevens shoots for a double leg takedown but Jones sprawls well. He's pushed Stevens's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Stevens has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


Stevens is rocked!
Stevens tries to close the distance and clinch but Jones swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Oh Stevens is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jones throws a left and a right that both miss

and Stevens counters with a single leg into guard. Jones didn't expect that.
Jones keeping moving, preventing Stevens from controlling successfully.
Stevens seems to have got his legs back now.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Stevens pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jones is keeping the position for now.
Jones can't keep his opponent in guard - Stevens advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Stevens looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Stevens is looking for a kimura here.

Stevens seems to be looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jones trying to hold on to Stevens's head to control him but Stevens postures up.

Stevens in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Jones tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Stevens!
