Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pete Ruent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenji Okabe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pete Ruent! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenji Okabe! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Okabe throws a hook to the side of Ruent's head but Ruent sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Okabe misses with a takedown attempt and Ruent counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Ruent is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Okabe trying to hold on to Ruent's head to control him but Ruent postures up.
Ruent keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Pete Ruent wasn't doing enough on the ground. Okabe cracks Ruent with an open hand slap. Ruent uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Okabe has time to react. Okabe blocks the body kick.
Okabe feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Okabe throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ruent works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruent is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Ruent not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Okabe trying to control but Ruent is working from the bottom. Okabe thows a big elbow that misses. Okabe looking to sit in guard and control but Ruent gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Ruent looking to pass the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Okabe seems keen to control Ruent's posture. Ruent trying to control the position from guard on top but Okabe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ruent being controlled here momentarily. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Ruent throws a leg kick but Okabe checks it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruent throws out a loose jab but Okabe uses good head movement to avoid it. Ruent takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Okabe looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ruent is fending him off so far but Okabe persists. Nope, Ruent circles away and we're back to standing. Ruent slaps away a takedown attempt from Okabe, before circling back to the center of the mat. Pete Ruent has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenji Okabe. Okabe throws a right hand that misses
and Ruent counters with a nice low kick that buckles Okabe's knee momentarily. A big left from Ruent misses. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Okabe scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Ruent is looking to regain half guard here but Okabe keeps moving and retains side control. Okabe working away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ruent throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ruent staying out of range there. Okabe tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ruent was well out of range. Poor timing from Okabe. Okabe takes a swing at Ruent's ribcage but misses. Okabe throws a big shot that misses. The fight moves into the clinch position. Ruent tries to work over Okabe's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Ruent misses with a hook to the ribs.
Ruent escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Okabe shoots in but Ruent avoids the takedown attempt easily. Okabe throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ruent's waist but Ruent gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Okabe off to one side.
That's one minute gone in the round. Okabe shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Ruent counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Pete Ruent has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenji Okabe. Okabe is pulling down on Ruent's head. It's preventing any offense from Ruent, at least for the moment. Ruent is stalling in the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Okabe manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ruent manages to get himself to full guard.
Ruent looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Pete Ruent wasn't doing enough on the ground. Okabe fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ruent manages to avoid it. Donk. Ruent catches Okabe right on the button with a cross. Ruent misses with a wild body shot. Ruent darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Ruent is pressing down on Okabe's thigh, looking to free his foot. Okabe is holding on for now.

Ruent throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Okabe's head. Ruent tries to score with a low kick but Okabe moves his leg out of the way. Okabe shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Okabe takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Ruent uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Okabe.
Okabe misses with a hook. Ruent misses with a low kick. Ruent slips under a jab from Okabe.
That's one minute gone in the round. Okabe closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ruent circles away. Ruent displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Okabe. Pete Ruent has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenji Okabe. Ruent stuffs the takedown attempt from Okabe. Okabe gets slowly back to his feet. Ruent stuns Okabe with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Okabe closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Okabe lands in his opponent's guard. Ruent wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Okabe might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ruent kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Okabe throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Okabe throws a big right hand that misses.

Ruent lands an overhand right. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Okabe gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Okabe takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Okabe shoots and misses and Ruent counters with a nice low kick that buckles Okabe's knee momentarily. Okabe is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted. Ruent takes the fight into the clinch.

Pete Ruent is winning the standup battle so far. Okabe throws a body punch but Ruent moves out of range. Ruent lands a big head kick that sends Okabe tumbling to the mat! Ruent takes a step backwards and waves Okabe back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like Kenji Okabe has been cut. Okabe tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ruent was well out of range. Poor timing from Okabe. That kick from Ruent tenderised Okabe's leg. Okabe is trying to keep his angry face on. Ruent just misses with a punch to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ruent scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Ruent circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Okabe drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Ruent follows Okabe to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
