Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Manuel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tjerk Hamer! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Manuel moves into range and clinches up with Hamer. Hamer looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Manuel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Manuel lands a front kick. Manuel really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Manuel throws a left that rocks Hamer and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Manuel dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Hamer regain composure!
Hamer is rocked!
It looks like Tjerk Hamer has been cut. Manuel in side control, just content to control the action for now. Hamer is still in real trouble! Can Manuel finish him? Manuel will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Hamer taking a bit of punishment here - Manuel scoring with strikes. Manuel looks up at the clock and then as Hamer takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Manuel smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Manuel lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Manuel in side control lands a decent elbow. Manuel connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Hamer some visible discomfort.
Manuel stands up and we're back to a striking position. Manuel takes the fight into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Manuel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Hamer looks to clinch and Manuel counters with an inside leg kick. Manuel lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Hamer is looking to close the distance but Manuel sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Hamer crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Hamer is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Jose Manuel!
