Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Oleg Ivanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikhail Rompevsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mikhail Rompevsky is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Oleg Ivanov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mikhail Rompevsky!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Vladimir Khabensky and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ivanov shoots in and gets a takedown into Rompevsky's guard.
Rompevsky is controlling Ivanov's posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rompevsky looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Ivanov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Ivanov is looking to improve his position but Rompevsky isn't that keen on the idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mikhail Rompevsky will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rompevsky is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Oleg Ivanov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ivanov has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Rompevsky is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Rompevsky rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ivanov moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Ivanov throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rompevsky tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ivanov is in Rompevsky's guard.

Rompevsky working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ivanov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Rompevsky is tightening it up a little... Ivanov has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Ivanov reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Ivanov taps out! nice BJJ there by Rompevsky!
