Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mirek Szymaniak!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spoons leaves Szymaniak with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Spoons fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Szymaniak.
Rusty Spoons seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Spoons buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Spoons.

Spoons gets caught flat footed, as Szymaniak shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Spoons has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Szymaniak has passed into side control.
Spoons is trying to improve his position.
Spoons struggling a bit here.

Szymaniak controlling from side mount.
Szymaniak's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Spoons is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mirek Szymaniak hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Spoons pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Szymaniak shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Spoons manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Spoons looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Szymaniak puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Spoons is looking for a sweep. Szymaniak is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rusty Spoons.
Spoons lands a high kick!
Spoons lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Szymaniak circles away quickly and effectively.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Szymaniak tries a head kick but it misses.
Horrible takedown by Szymaniak or perhaps it was just good defense by Spoons which made him look bad.
Nice straight punches there by Spoons. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Spoons.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Spoons fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Spoons feints a jab promting Szymaniak to slip. Spoons then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Szymaniak slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Spoons misses with a head kick.
Spoons lands with a shot to the body.
Spoons cracks a nice hook into Szymaniak's ribs.
Spoons throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Spoons fakes the leg kick and cracks Szymaniak in the body.

Szymaniak drives through with a takedown into Spoons's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Szymaniak tries to free his leg and advance position but Spoons is retaining full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Szymaniak drops his hands momentarily and Spoons takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Rusty Spoons is winning the standup battle so far.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Szymaniak misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Spoons throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Szymaniak moves in looking to clinch but Spoons pushes him off.

Spoons throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Szymaniak's head.

Spoons throws a series of punches but Szymaniak avoids them all with ease.
Spoons keeps the fight on the outside.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

A thudding body kick lands there by Spoons!
Szymaniak throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rusty Spoons is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Spoons throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Szymaniak stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Szymaniak needs to keep his hands up - Spoons had a free shot at his head there.
Spoons lands a two punch combo.
Spoons throws a series of punches but Szymaniak moves out of range.

Szymaniak decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Szymaniak is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Szymaniak wants to pass the guard but Spoons is defending well.

Spoons avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Szymaniak.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Szymaniak content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rusty Spoons.
Szymaniak shoots for a takedown but Spoons saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Rusty Spoons has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Spoons moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Szymaniak throws a sloppy head kick and Spoons moves out of range easily.
Szymaniak walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Szymaniak slips a jab and a cross from Spoons.

Szymaniak throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Spoons's waist but Spoons gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Szymaniak off to one side.
Rusty Spoons has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mirek Szymaniak.

Szymaniak shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Spoons's guard.
Szymaniak advances to half guard.
Spoons wants to get back to full guard.
Well, if Szymaniak is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Mirek Szymaniak has got the better of the ground game so far.

Szymaniak thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Spoons's head.
Szymaniak has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Rusty Spoons is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Spoons wants to control but Szymaniak is having none of it.

Szymaniak avoids the attempt from Spoons to control.
Mirek Szymaniak has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Mirek Szymaniak comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
