PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Vincent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arabic Persian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Vincent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Arabic Persian!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vincent drops Persian with a left right combo! Vincent follows him down to the ground into side control.


Persian is rocked!


It looks like Arabic Persian has been cut.
Persian looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Vincent has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Persian is still on wobbly legs! Can Vincent finish him?

Vincent shoots in and bounces Persian off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Vincent advances position into side control!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Vincent is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Persian's shoulder. That is not cool.
Persian seems to have recovered his senses.

Vincent stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Vincent throws and low kick but Persian moves out of range easily.
Vincent drops Persian with a beautiful combination! Persian stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Vincent is looking for the KO!
A decent looking cross lands there for Vincent.
Persian throws a series of punches but Vincent avoids them all with ease.

Vincent drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Vincent stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Persian circles away from the clinch attempt.

Vincent shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Vincent showed some decent athleticism there.
Vincent wants to stand but Persian has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Persian is trying to stand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vincent thows a huge punch but Persian dodges it nicely.
Persian keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Vincent wants to stand up but Persian is controlling the position.

Persian flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Persian throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Vincent.

Persian trying to control the action but Vincent is working from the bottom.

Persian must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Vincent bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Persian's guard.

Vincent gets to his feet - Persian follows without any prompting.
Vincent doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Persian counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
The fighters are battling for position here. Vincent manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Persian had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Vincent is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Persian Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Vincent's back instead.
James Vincent overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Vincent utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vincent looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Persian is defending well. Vincent quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Persian has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Vincent celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
