Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Champion Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sam Winchester!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Winchester tries to clinch up.
Winchester tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Jones counters with a head kick.
Winchester wants to clinch but Jones slips to the side

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Winchester can do anything to dispel that myth.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Winchester trying to hold on to Jones's head to control him but Jones postures up.
Winchester manages to get to full guard.

Winchester uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Winchester gets caught napping as Jones dives in and scores a takedown. Winchester manages to retain guard.

Jones got a little sloppy there for a moment and Winchester has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jones has managed to get both his arms back between Winchester's legs - danger averted.
Jones won't allow Winchester to sweep him here.
Winchester is striking off his back. Jones thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.

Jones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Winchester works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Winchester swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Winchester isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Jones stacks Winchester on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Jones!

Winchester is looking to reverse the position.
Winchester can't do much from the bottom here.
Winchester tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jones wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Winchester on the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Sam Winchester will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Winchester looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Winchester holds on and takes a little breather.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Winchester is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Winchester escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jones gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Jones prevents Winchester from getting back to his feet.

Jones throws a strike but Winchester rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Jones had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Winchester defends it easily.
Winchester postures up in Jones's guard and throws a big left but Jones blocks it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Winchester controls from within his opponent's guard.
Let's hope that Winchester has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Winchester trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Sam Winchester.
Winchester fails with the takedown.

Winchester is looking to chop away at Jones's legs.

Jones throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Winchester tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jones is in Winchester's guard.
Jones has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Winchester looking for subs off his back but Jones has passed one foot through into half guard.

Jones looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Sam Winchester will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Winchester is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jones's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jones's back!

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Jones prevents Winchester from getting a body triangle.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Winchester controlling the positon.
Winchester throwing wild punches that miss their target.
Winchester throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

What can Jones do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Jones could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Winchester is persistently looking for the submission but Jones is defending it well.
