PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hiachi Kazuya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Wiley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wiley has chosen Dashboard by Modest Mouse as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiachi Kazuya!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chuck Wiley!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Sano and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kazuya shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kazuya was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Kazuya is working for a guillotine from mount but Wiley frees his head quite easily.
Kazuya throws some wild stikes that Wiley manages to avoid easily.

Kazuya is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Kazuya shoots for a takedown but Wiley saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Hiachi Kazuya seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wiley fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kazuya tries to clinch up but Wiley circles away and keeps his distance.

Kazuya tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wiley paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Wiley pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Wiley takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Kazuya forces Wiley back against the cage and clinches.
Kazuya is looking to break free of the clinch but Wiley has double underhooks.

Kazuya drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kazuya trying to control but Wiley is working from the bottom.
Wiley looks gassed!
Kazuya wants to pass the guard but Wiley is keeping the position.

Kazuya gets to his feet - Wiley follows without any prompting.

Kazuya drives through and clinches with Wiley against the cage.

Kazuya manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Wiley won't allow Kazuya to sweep him here.
Kazuya lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Wiley!

Wiley is squirming around, avoiding Kazuya's attempts to control the action.

Kazuya is really struggling to control Wiley but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Kazuya tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kazuya postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Wiley looks a forlorn figure.
Kazuya lands a big shot there that rocks Wiley but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Kazuya is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Wiley has managed to escape the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Kazuya feints and as Wiley raises his hands in defense, Kazuya changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Kazuya stands up and waves to Wiley to follow him.
Wiley shoots for a double leg takedown but Kazuya sprawls well. He's pushed Wiley's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Kazuya darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Kazuya thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wiley's head.

Kazuya is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Wiley has managed to free his arm - good work.
Kazuya is stalling here. Wiley is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Kazuya seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Wiley has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Wiley stands up and beckons Kazuya to his feet.
Kazuya shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wiley as he jumps to the side.
Wiley misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Wiley swats away the attempt to clinch by Kazuya.
Kazuya throws a head kick that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wiley stuffs the takedown attempt from Kazuya. Kazuya gets slowly back to his feet.
Kazuya fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kazuya lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Wiley tries a head kick but it misses.

Kazuya moves into range and clinches up with Wiley.
Kazuya tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hiachi Kazuya. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wiley lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Wiley.

Kazuya jumps into guard, dragging Wiley to the mat.
Wiley wants to stand and escape but instead Kazuya has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Wiley is breathing heavily.
Wiley keeping moving, preventing Kazuya from controlling successfully.

Kazuya is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kazuya wants to control from the top but Wiley keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Kazuya is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Kazuya manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Well Kazuya has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
