The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Swiderski throws the kick towards the body but Matos avoids it. Matos shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Swiderski's guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Matos accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Matos wants to control from the top but Swiderski keeps moving. Swiderski is keeping the position for now. Swiderski is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Matos is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Swiderski is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Swiderski has escaped and now he's on top! Swiderski working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Swiderski wants to control from the top but Matos keeps moving. Matos wants to stand but Swiderski is controlling the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Swiderski advances to half guard. Matos wants to get back to his feet.
Matos pushes Swiderski off but Swiderski dives into side control.
Swiderski stands up and beckons Matos to his feet. A momentary lapse in concentration from Swiderski enables Matos to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Swiderski manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Matos won't allow Swiderski to get back to his feet. Swiderski is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Matos postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Swiderski is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Matos, into his guard. Matos really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Swiderski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Matos is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Swiderski is looking to stand up but Matos won't let him. Matos wants to stand up but Swiderski is controlling him. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Swiderski working some strikes from top position. Matos wants to stand but Swiderski is controlling the position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Matos can do anything to dispel that myth. Swiderski trying to control the position from guard on top but Matos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Matos is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Swiderski is controlling him.

Matos looks gassed! Matos is trying to stand. Matos tries to buck Swiderski off but Swiderski takes his back! Matos is keeping busy.
