Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Chimpo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Plank (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chimpo comes into the arena with On The Darkside blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Plank!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chimpo tries to score with a low kick but Plank moves his leg out of the way.
Plank wants to clinch up but Chimpo keeps it at a distance.

Plank gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Plank avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chimpo's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Plank is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Chimpo is defending well for now.

Chimpo lands with a left to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Plank lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Chimpo backwards.
Chimpo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Plank just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Chimpo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Plank lands an elbow that stopped Chimpo in his tracks for a moment.
Plank lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Plank is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Chimpo is defending well for now.

Chimpo tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Plank is able to avoid easily.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Chimpo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Plank just stands there and leans against the cage.

Johnny Chimpo's cut is getting worse.
A shot in the inside from Plank.

Chimpo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Chimpo looks to score with a jab to the body but Plank is just out of range.
Plank checks a leg kick.

Chimpo has taken the fight to the clinch.
Plank misses with a shot to the kidneys.
John Plank seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Plank creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Plank landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Chimpo ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Chimpo no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Plank wanted to stand there but Chimpo had control of the position.
Chimpo keeping moving, preventing Plank from controlling successfully.
Plank is looking to work some ground and pound but Chimpo has wrist control.
Chimpo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Plank is controlling him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Chimpo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Plank can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Plank wants to control from the top but Chimpo keeps moving.

A looping hook to the body misses from Chimpo. Plank does a little dance to reset his feet.
Chimpo tries to work over Plank's front leg with a kick but Plank checks it.
Plank throws a chopping leg kick but Chimpo manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Plank tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Chimpo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and Chimpo counters with a nice leg kick.

Chimpo cracks Plank with an open hand slap.
Chimpo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Plank moves away.
Plank scores with a head kick.
A big right from Chimpo misses.
Chimpo checks a low kick from Plank.
Plank is looking to land body kicks.
Plank moves out of range of the body kick.
Plank blocks a jab.
Plank fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Chimpo.
Chimpo swings for the body but Plank moves out of range.
Plank feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Chimpo's calf.
Chimpo fails with a takedown attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A head kick misses from Chimpo.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Chimpo closes the distance and clinches.
Plank lands a left hand that snaps the head of Chimpo backwards.
Chimpo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Plank walks away with a smile on his face. Chimpo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Chimpo walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Plank checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Chimpo misses with a leg kick
and Plank cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Chimpo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Plank was well out of range. Poor timing from Chimpo.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Plank connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Plank tries to bum rush Chimpo with a series of wild strikes but Chimpo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Chimpo tries to work over Plank's front leg with a kick but Plank checks it.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Johnny Chimpo.
I think Chimpo has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
