Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Nogueira!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Felipe Paraventi and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arona tries for a takedown but Nogueira circles away easily
and Nogueira moves into the clinch.
Arona has Nogueira pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Nogueira manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Arona is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Nogueira gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricardo Arona. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nogueira displaying some good clinch control by pressing Arona up against the cage.
Arona tries to score a body lock takedown but Nogueira shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Arona prevents Nogueira from breaking the clinch.
Arona goes for a takedown attempt but Nogueira pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Arona shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nogueira as he avoids it easily.

and Arona takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

A jab from Nogueira finds it's way through Arona's defenses.
Nogueira ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Arona tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nogueira sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Arona somewhat.
Nogueira connects with a right hand. Arona shakes it off.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nogueira throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Arona will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Nogueira cracks Arona with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Arona looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Nogueira finish him?
Nogueira moves into the clinch successfully.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Arona. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Arona changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Nogueira fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Nogueira pushes Arona away with a front kick.
Arona is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nogueira looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nogueira is controlling the pace.
Nogueira is trying to work for a kimura but Arona is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nogueira connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Arona momentarily.

Arona shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Nogueira counters with a straight right hand.
Nogueira throws a head kick but Arona moves out of range.
Arona shoots and misses
and Nogueira counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Arona swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Nogueira counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Arona takes a jab right on the kisser.
Arona is rocked!
Horrible takedown by Arona or perhaps it was just good defense by Nogueira which made him look bad.
Arona misses with a leg kick
and Nogueira counters with a big right hand! Oh Arona is in trouble here! Nogueira follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
