Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gerald Willis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sagat Adulyadej (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adulyadej has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gerald Willis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sagat Adulyadej! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Alexandre Firmino and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck with that takedown attempt from Willis. Adulyadej looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Willis dives in and grabs Adulyadej's left leg, looking for a takedown. Adulyadej pushes down on Willis's head and hops out. Adulyadej fails in his attempt to clinch. Adulyadej tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Willis counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Adulyadej's guard now. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Adulyadej keeping full guard, as Willis tries to pass. Adulyadej tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Willis avoids it. Willis is trying to drag Adulyadej to the mat but Adulyadej just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Willis has had enough of the clinch but Adulyadej keeps him there for the moment. Willis wants the takedown. Adulyadej is fighting it off but Willis persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Adulyadej's guard against the cage. Adulyadej keeping moving, preventing Willis from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Adulyadej controls Willis momentarily but Willis frees himself. Willis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Adulyadej swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Willis's corner is telling him to maintain position. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Willis slips nicely into half guard. Willis is pressing down on Adulyadej's thigh, looking to free his foot. Adulyadej is holding on for now. Willis is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Adulyadej blocking the ground and pound attempt from Willis. Adulyadej won't allow Willis to pass to mount. Adulyadej is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Willis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Adulyadej does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Willis is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Adulyadej defends it well. Willis tries to pass the half guard into mount. Adulyadej knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Willis is working for a submission of some sort.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Willis slows the pace down in half guard. Willis is trying to control. Adulyadej wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Willis not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Willis is trying to control the action in half guard but Adulyadej is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Adulyadej stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Adulyadej wants it to stay on the feet. Willis shoots in but no luck this time. Adulyadej tries to clinch and Willis counters with a takedown into side control. Willis content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Willis tries to move to mount but Adulyadej blocks the move with his legs. Willis tries for a kimura but Adulyadej is defending well. Willis stands up and we're back to a striking position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Willis shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gerald Willis. Adulyadej is looking to clinch. Adulyadej closes the distance looking to clinch and Willis decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Adulyadej's guard. Willis trying to control the position from guard on top but Adulyadej is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Willis throwing strikes from guard but Adulyadej blocks nicely. Adulyadej keeping full guard, as Willis tries to pass. Gerald Willis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Willis is working hard here to advance position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Willis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Adulyadej is looking to stand up but Willis isn't so interested in that idea. Willis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Adulyadej swivels though and keeps the full guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Adulyadej displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Willis. Willis shoots in looking for a takedown. Adulyadej tries to sprawl out of it but Willis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Adulyadej manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Willis shoots in for a takedown but Adulyadej shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Willis fails to land the takedown. Willis tries to score a power double leg takedown but Adulyadej sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Willis somewhat. Willis swats away the attempt to clinch by Adulyadej. Adulyadej tries to close the distance and clinch up but Willis swats him away and circles back towards the center. Willis shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Adulyadej defends it nicely. Adulyadej wants to clinch but Willis slips to the side and Willis counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Willis. Adulyadej tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Willis passes into half guard. Willis is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Adulyadej doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Willis. Willis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Adulyadej on the ground. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Adulyadej throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
And that's the end of the fight! Gerald Willis showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Willis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
