Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Skyy John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Val Venis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Skyy John!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Val Venis!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Venis is looking to clinch but John is avoiding it.
Skyy John seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
John throws a lazy head kick

and Venis counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in John's guard now.
Venis won't allow John to get back to his feet.
Venis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
John can't keep his opponent in guard - Venis advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Venis is nestled in close to John, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Venis drops an elbow to the side of John's head.
Venis is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Venis content to control rather than advance.
John really is a fat lump.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Venis tries to pass the half guard into mount. John knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
John trying to hold on to Venis's head to control him but Venis postures up.
Venis is nestled in close to John, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Venis throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Venis seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Venis's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Venis working the head and body with strikes.
Venis winds up and cracks John with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Venis controlling the pace.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
John is looking to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
John keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
John might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Venis keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Venis maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! John could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Venis has cracked it and John is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Venis!
