PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vid Grubac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anton Bedar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Vid Grubac!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Anton Bedar!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Donald Grub and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bedar throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Grubac's head.
Grubac throws a lazy body kick
and Bedar counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Bedar with a poor takedown

and Grubac counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Grubac.
Bedar fails to pull guard.
Bedar stalling in the clinch but Grubac improves position.
Bedar has had enough of the clinch but Grubac keeps him there for the moment.

Grubac manages to break the clinch.
Bedar shoots and misses
and Grubac counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Vid Grubac has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anton Bedar.
Grubac throws a right and a left that Bedar avoids nicely.

Grubac gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Grubac breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bedar has his takedown stuffed

and Grubac decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bedar's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Grubac has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Vid Grubac wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Grubac closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Bedar quickly recovers to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Vid Grubac wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Grubac drives through with a takedown into Bedar's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bedar misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Grubac tries to reverse the position but Bedar maintains control.

Grubac tries to lock up and control but Bedar gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Grubac on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Grubac tries to get out of the position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Vid Grubac wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Grubac has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Bedar clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Grubac controlling the position well here. Bedar rolled but Grubac kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Grubac is riding his opponent, not letting Bedar buck him off.
Grubac's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

What can Bedar do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bedar is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Grubac.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Grubac feints and as Bedar raises his hands in defense, Grubac changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Grubac fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bedar, pushing him back against the cage.

Bedar not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Grubac wants to stand but Bedar is controlling his posture from full guard.
Bedar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Grubac manages to get himself to full guard.
Bedar wanted to stand there but Grubac had control of the position.
Bedar won't allow Grubac to get back to his feet.
Grubac might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Grubac seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Bedar is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Bedar wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Grubac has him pressed against the cage.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bedar goes for a takedown in the clinch but Grubac prevents it.

Grubac gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Bedar is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Bedar is looking for a sweep. Grubac is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Bedar won't allow Grubac to pass to mount.
Anton Bedar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Grubac, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
