Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nick Schnieder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Mittrione (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Schnieder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Mittrione!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mittrione throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Mittrione looking to score a takedown here. Schnieder is defending well but Mittrione drives through and ends up in Schnieder's guard.
Mittrione trying to control the position from guard on top but Schnieder is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mittrione thows a big elbow that misses.
Schnieder wants to stand and escape but Mittrione is having none of it.

Schnieder kicks Mittrione off and gets to his feet.

Mittrione shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mittrione was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Mittrione looking to secure an arm triangle but Schnieder defends it well.
Schnieder wants to get back to his feet.

Mittrione controlling his opponent.
Mittrione throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Schnieder because Mittrione loaded up on that one.
Schnieder holds on for dear life, controlling Mittrione's posture momentarily.
Mittrione trying to control but Schnieder is having none of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Schnieder holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Mittrione tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Schnieder is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Mittrione is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Schnieder to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Schnieder shrugs it off.

Mittrione misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Schnieder keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Mittrione throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Schnieder trying desperately to get to his feet.
BOOM! Mittrione connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Mittrione tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Schnieder is trying to stand up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mittrione is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Schnieder can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Mittrione lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mittrione looking to control but Schnieder is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Mittrione dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mittrione fails with the takedown

and Schnieder counters with a single leg into guard. Mittrione didn't expect that.
Schnieder is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Mittrione looking to hit a scissor sweep but Schnieder is one step ahead there.
Schnieder working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Schnieder trying to control the position from guard on top but Mittrione is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mittrione thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Schnieder pushes down on Mittrione's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Schnieder is looking to take a break and control but Mittrione is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mittrione throws a sloppy head kick and Schnieder moves out of range easily.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mittrione shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Schnieder is trying to defend but Mittrione finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Mittrione lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Paul Mittrione has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mittrione trying to control the action but Schnieder is working from the bottom.

Schnieder manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Schnieder blocks a head kick by Mittrione.
Mittrione tries to clinch

and Schnieder counters with a takedown into side control.
Mittrione is not content to let Schnieder control the position.
The referee asks Schnieder politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Schnieder prefers to stall for the moment though.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mittrione can do anything to dispel that myth.
Mittrione keeps Schnieder under control for a moment.
Mittrione takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Mittrione tries to buck Schnieder off but Schnieder is having none of it.
Mittrione struggling a bit here.
Mittrione trying to remain calm as Schnieder controls from the top position.
Schnieder's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Mittrione wants to control but Schnieder postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Mittrione counters with a nice double leg into side control. Schnieder won't be happy with that.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mittrione wants to take a breather but Schnieder manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Mittrione.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Schnieder manages to escape and get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Mittrione throws a low kick but Schnieder moves out of range easily.
Mittrione closes the distance looking to clinch

and Schnieder holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Mittrione prevents the takedown attempt.
Mittrione misses with a punch to the body.
Schnieder has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mittrione avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
With the fighters up against the cage, Mittrione throws an elbow but misses.

Mittrione jumps guard.
Schnieder stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mittrione swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mittrione working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Schnieder doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Schnieder manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mittrione wants to sweep but no luck.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Nick Schnieder wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Mittrione darts in trying to clinch

and Schnieder counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Schnieder wants to control from the top but Mittrione keeps moving.

Schnieder takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Schnieder looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Schnieder is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Mittrione dives into side control.
