The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Bruno Lombardi and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russell dives in and grabs Begood's left leg, looking for a takedown. Begood pushes down on Russell's head and hops out.
Russell fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Begood sprawls well initially but Russell persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Russell stops Begood from getting back to his feet.
Russell thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Russell thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Begood's head.
Begood on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Russell is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Begood sees it coming and defends easily.
Begood is in trouble now - Russell has advanced to mount!
Russell throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Begood because Russell loaded up on that one.
Begood avoids a series of strikes thrown by Russell.

Russell breaks from Begood's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Begood tries to get back to half guard but can't.
