The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ashburn takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. McDonald throws the kick towards the body but Ashburn avoids it. McDonald tries to clinch but Ashburn is having none of it. McDonald throws a wild body kick that Ashburn sees coming a mile off. Ashburn scores with a jab to the jaw. Ashburn keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. McDonald throws a body punch but Ashburn moves out of range. A big right from Ashburn misses. McDonald looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. McDonald fails with a takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. McDonald moves out of range as Ashburn strikes. McDonald shoots in but no luck this time. Cal Ashburn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marty McDonald. McDonald pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. McDonald shoots for a takedown but Ashburn saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Ashburn looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Ashburn leaves McDonald with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Ashburn swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by McDonald. McDonald checks a leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ashburn ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McDonald moves away. McDonald takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
McDonald moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Ashburn misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ashburn doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Ashburn throws a left and a right that both miss
and McDonald counters with a right hand to the body. McDonald shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ashburn sprawls well. Ashburn wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. McDonald gets slowly back to his feet. Ashburn throws a nice looking combination but McDonald bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McDonald gets cracked there but stands up to it.
McDonald moves into the clinch. Ashburn wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but McDonald has him pressed against the cage. Ashburn wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. McDonald tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
McDonald creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Ashburn's defenses.
It looks like Cal Ashburn has been cut. McDonald pushes Ashburn back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. McDonald lands with a right to the head. McDonald scores with a hook to the body. Ashburn tries to break the clinch but McDonald is controlling the position. McDonald scores with a hook to the body. Ashburn is breathing heavily. Ashburn is trying to break free. McDonald utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ashburn being controlled against the cage. McDonald scores a nice knee to the body.
Come on McDonald - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

McDonald prevents Ashburn from breaking the clinch. A nice right hand lands inside from McDonald. Ashburn wants to break the clinch but can't.

McDonald lands a body punch in the clinch. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! McDonald stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

McDonald throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Ashburns head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marty McDonald dominated that round. The cut man is working on Cal Ashburn's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Ashburn just misses with a punch to the body.
Sloppy strikes from Ashburn. Those never looked like landing. Ashburn gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. McDonald trying to control but Ashburn is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McDonald wants to pass the guard but Ashburn is keeping the position. McDonald controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. McDonald throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ashburn works some decent striking defense from the bottom. McDonald stands and throws Ashburn's legs to the side, diving into side control. McDonald working the ground and pound but Ashburn is defending the strikes. Ashburn is being controlled here. McDonald tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Ashburn defending against the ground and pound. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. McDonald is looking to take a break and control but Ashburn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McDonald is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ashburn is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Ashburn is looking to reverse the position. Ashburn is not content to let McDonald control the position. Ashburn regains half guard, as McDonald was trying to land strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McDonald throwing shots but Ashburn is blocking nicely. McDonald thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ashburn's head. McDonald is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Ashburn! McDonald thowing shots but they're missing. McDonald raining down shots from the mount! McDonald with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
McDonald looking to control but Ashburn is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McDonald working the ground and pound effectively.
McDonald postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Ashburn looks a forlorn figure.
McDonald sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. McDonald lands a big shot there that rocks Ashburn but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Ashburn is wriggling around trying to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marty McDonald showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Cal Ashburn's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Ashburn gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows McDonald to score an easy takedown into full guard. McDonald tries to free his leg and advance position but Ashburn is retaining full guard. McDonald advances to half guard. McDonald sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Ashburn defending well though. McDonald not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Ashburn wants to control but McDonald is keeping busy and won't allow it. McDonald uses his free foot to push down on Ashburn's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ashburn.
That's one minute gone in the round. McDonald unloads with some shots from mount but Ashburn bucks and avoids them well.
McDonald lands with some strikes. McDonald throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Ashburn because McDonald loaded up on that one. McDonald has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. McDonald takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. McDonald putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! McDonald sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! McDonald trying to control but Ashburn is having none of it. McDonald punishing his opponent with strikes. Marty McDonald is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Marty McDonald wasn't active enough on the ground. Ashburn throws a jab when McDonald was well out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McDonald thows a body shot but no joy. Ashburn uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McDonald.
Ashburn swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ashburn walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. McDonald looks for a takedown but Ashburn sprawls well. McDonald throws a body punch but Ashburn moves out of range. Cal Ashburn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Cal Ashburn is winning the standup battle so far. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ashburn throws a left and a right that both miss
and McDonald counters with a good, hard body kick but Ashburn shrugs it off.
And that's the end of the fight! Marty McDonald comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got McDonald winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
