Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Sparks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Dinks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sparks comes into the arena with Cult of Personality blaring out of the sound system. Dinks comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Eye of the Tiger kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tommy Sparks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Dinks! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Anthony Taglia and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A thudding body kick lands there by Dinks!
Sparks misses with a kick to the body and Dinks counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Sparks's guard now. Dinks advances to half guard. Dinks prevents Sparks from improving his position. Sparks on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sparks tries to get out of the position. Dinks wants to take a breather but Sparks is having none of it. Sparks is trying to get back to full guard. It looks like Dinks is going to stand back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dinks passes into side control, despite Sparks's attempt to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sparks sneaks back into half guard. Dinks decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. No luck with that takedown attempt from Sparks. Dinks scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Sparks can't do much from the bottom here. Sparks is breathing heavily. Sparks is trying to improve his position. Dinks is looking to take a break and control but Sparks is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dinks happy to just control the position for now. Dinks trying to control the position but Sparks is working away.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Frank Dinks wasn't active enough on the ground. Dinks misses with a takedown and Sparks counters by clinching up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dinks jumps into guard, dragging Sparks to the mat.
Dinks wants to stand and escape but Sparks is having none of it. Sparks is stalling in the full guard. Sparks drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Dinks dives on top into guard. Dinks controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Dinks gets to his feet - Sparks follows without any prompting. Nice sprawl there from Sparks as Dinks shoots in. Dinks moves into the clinch successfully.
Sparks tries to stall but Dinks uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dinks ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dinks no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Sparks showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Dinks is trying to control the position but Sparks postures up. Sparks would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dinks is on top in guard.
Dinks advances position into side control! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sparks is letting Dinks control him for a moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frank Dinks dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Sparks fails with the takedown and Dinks counters with a nice double leg into guard. Dinks content to stall in guard here. Dinks trying to control but Sparks is working from the bottom. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sparks is on top in guard.
Dinks controlling the position. Sparks has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Dinks is trying to hold Sparks in close to prevent damage but Sparks has managed to pass into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sparks throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Dinks has his hands clasped together around Sparks's back. He's all about the action. Dinks is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sparks's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sparks's back! Dinks struggling to keep hold of the position.
Dinks just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Sparks trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Dinks scores with punches and elbows.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Sparks is taking damage to the body and head. Sparks controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Dinks lands punches and elbows. Good control from Dinks. Dinks connects with a big shot to the side of Sparks's head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dinks is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Dinks gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Dinks gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Dinks apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Sparks is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Dinks takes the fight into the clinch. Dinks tries to pull guard but Sparks holds him up against the cage and eventually Dinks drops back down to his feet.
Sparks is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Dinks is keeping busy. Dinks tries to score a body lock takedown but Sparks shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Sparks tries for a takedown but Dinks manages to get underhooks.
Dinks pulls guard. Dinks seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Dinks pushes Sparks off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A head kick from Dinks lands but Sparks takes it in his stride. Dinks closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sparks circles away. Tommy Sparks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Dinks. Sparks closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Dinks quickly recovers to half guard. Frank Dinks has got the better of the ground game so far. Sparks seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dinks does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Sparks is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Sparks wants to control but Dinks is keeping him busy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frank Dinks showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!
Nice sprawl there from Sparks as Dinks shoots in. Sparks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Sparks fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dinks sprawls well initially but Sparks persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Sparks thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Dinks to regain full guard. Sparks looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Dinks bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sparks's guard. Dinks postures up in Sparks's guard and throws a big left but Sparks blocks it. Dinks sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sparks's guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dinks looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Dinks is trying to control. Sparks wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Sparks is looking to escape. Sparks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Dinks is pressing down on Sparks's thigh, looking to free his foot. Sparks is holding on for now. Dinks working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Dinks decides to stand up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Dinks pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Sparks back to the cage. Dinks follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. The fight moves into the clinch position. Dinks wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Dinks lands a good knee to the midsection. Sparks won't want to take too many of those. Sparks stops a takedown attempt from Dinks.
Sparks ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Sparks no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Sparks lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Dinks! Sparks avoids the attempt from Dinks to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sparks with shots to the head and body - Dinks looks very uncomfortable down there. Sparks trying to control but Dinks is having none of it. Sparks punching from mount but Dinks doing a good job of avoiding damage. Sparks prevents Dinks from getting the reversal. Sparks can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dinks is looking to escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Dinks is looking to get to half guard. Sparks looking to control and managing it successfully. Sparks wants to control but instead Dinks manages to regain half guard. Dinks is not content to let Sparks control the position.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tommy Sparks. Well Dinks has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality.
