Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mauro Gomes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vik Baeng (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomes comes to the cage accompanied by Body Count - Necessary Evil. Baeng comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Bring the noise kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baeng will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
A looping hook to the body misses from Baeng. Gomes does a little dance to reset his feet.
Gomes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gomes tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Baeng manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Baeng thumps Gomes with a low kick.
Baeng scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

and Gomes counters with a crisp one two that drops Baeng! Gomes thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Baeng to his feet! Baeng is in big trouble!

Baeng misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Gomes fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Gomes cracks Baeng with a right hand to the side of the head.
Baeng throws a shot from downtown. Gomes moves away and avoids it.

Baeng avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Baeng tries to bum rush Gomes with a series of wild strikes but Gomes uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Gomes fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Baeng avoids it really well and circles away.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mauro Gomes.
Well Gomes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
