The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Bernhard misses.
Rousimar Palhares seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bernhard jabs Palhares to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Bernhard punishes Palhares's body with a nice straight punch.
Palhares changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bernhard tries to avoid it but Palhares manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bernhard to the ground. Bernhard escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bernhard lands a nice looking body shot.
Bernhard lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Bernhard digs a good hook to Palhares's body.
Palhares shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bernhard pinned against the cage. Bernhard gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Palhares throws a combination that misses
and Bernhard connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Palhares shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bernhard as he jumps to the side.
Mike Bernhard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rousimar Palhares.
Bernhard cracks Palhares with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Palhares shoots in looking for a takedown but Bernhard manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Palhares's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Palhares fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bernhard avoids it really well and circles away.

Bernhard throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Palhares stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Bernhard is looking to wear down Palhares with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Bernhard tries to clinch up but Palhares circles away and keeps his distance.
Bernhard scores with a hook to the body. Palhares takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Bernhard darts in and clinches Palhares up against the cage.
Bernhard breaks the clinch.
Bernhard lands a nice shot that snaps Palhares's head back.
Bernhard is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Bernhard scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Palhares is trying desperately to land a takedown but Bernhard is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Palhares.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Bernhard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Bernhard counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Bernhard digs a good hook to Palhares's body.
Bernhard lands a left and a right that send Palhares crashing to the mat, dazed. Bernhard thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Palhares is rocked!
Bernhard dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Palhares is still on wobbly legs! Can Bernhard finish him?
Bernhard lands a body shot.
Bernhard gets in close and tags Palhares with a short punch that almost sends Palhares to the mat! Oh Palhares is in big trouble! He turns his back on Bernhard, trying to create some distance but Bernhard rushes him, striking wildly and Palhares goes down! The referee tackles Bernhard into the cage to end the fight! Bernhard is one violent man!
