Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Matos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alfredo Gonalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alfredo Gonalez has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pablo Matos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alfredo Gonalez !
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Felipe Paraventi and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonalez doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Matos counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Gonalez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Gonalez prevents Matos from standing back up.
Gonalez looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Matos pushes Gonalez off looking to stand but Gonalez dives back in and keeps control.

Gonalez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Matos defends it well.
Matos tries to kick Gonalez off but Gonalez keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Gonalez is looking to take a break and control but Matos is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Gonalez wants to stand up but Matos has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Matos is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gonalez sees it coming and defends easily.

Matos is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Matos looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Matos is trying a forearm choke� I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Matos is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gonalez is just riding it out for now. Matos eventually gives up the hold.

Matos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gonalez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gonalez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Matos stands up over Gonalez , holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Matos wants to pass the guard but Gonalez is keeping the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pablo Matos.
Well Matos has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
