Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Sheilds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenneth Ken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jake Sheilds has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Sheilds!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kenneth Ken!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Lou da Vinci and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sheilds feints and as Ken raises his hands in defense, Sheilds changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Sheilds wants to pass the guard but Ken is keeping the position.
Ken is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Ken wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Sheilds manages to pass to side control.
Sheilds looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sheilds is looking to pass Ken's guard but actually Ken recovers to full guard.
Ken wants to stand but Sheilds is controlling the position.
Sheilds has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Sheilds pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ken is keeping the position for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sheilds engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

We're going to have a standup here because Jake Sheilds wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Ken closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sheilds to the mat! Sheilds manages to get full guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sheilds is trying to control the position but Ken postures up.
Sheilds pulls Ken in close to prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ken has gone for a leg lock! Sheilds slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ken's guard.

Sheilds gets to his feet. Ken looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sheilds takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Sheilds moves in looking to clinch but Ken pushes him off.
Sheilds tries a head kick but it misses.
Sheilds slaps away a takedown attempt from Ken, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ken tries to clinch but Sheilds is having none of it.
Ken lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Ken.
Ken shoots and misses

and Sheilds counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ken!
Ken looks gassed!

Sheilds is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ken to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ken shrugs it off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sheilds takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ken tries to buck Sheilds off but he can't manage it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Sheilds goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Ken turns into him and now he's in Sheilds's guard.
Sheilds manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Sheilds dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Ken shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sheilds sprawls well. Sheilds wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ken gets slowly back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sheilds tries to free his leg and advance position but Ken is retaining full guard.

Jake Sheilds has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Ken avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Sheilds keeps the fight on the outside.
Ken doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Sheilds counters with a takedown into side control.
Ken is breathing heavily.
Ken is letting Sheilds control him for a moment.
Ken taking punishment in the form of punches.

Sheilds controlling the position from side mount.
Jake Sheilds overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sheilds's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Sheilds stands up and beckons Ken to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ken lands a head kick!
Sheilds fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Sheilds doesn't manage to clinch there - Ken circles away.
Ken misses with a takedown

and Sheilds counters with a single leg into guard. Ken didn't expect that.
Jake Sheilds has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenneth Ken.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jake Sheilds.
Sheilds ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ken moves away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ken enables Sheilds to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ken manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sheilds throws a big right hand that misses.
Ken is looking to stand back up but Sheilds counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Ken.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Sheilds dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Sheilds drives through with a takedown into Ken's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Sheilds works over Ken with some ground and pound from guard.
Ken is looking to stand up but Sheilds isn't so interested in that idea.
Sheilds stays in close to Ken's body and controls the position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Sheilds decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Ken takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Sheilds wants to clinch up but Ken keeps it at a distance.
Horrible takedown by Ken or perhaps it was just good defense by Sheilds which made him look bad.
Sheilds misses with a series of wild punches.
Ken blocks a head kick by Sheilds.
Ken looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sheilds is fending him off so far but Ken persists. Nope, Sheilds circles away and we're back to standing.

Sheilds drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Sheilds content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Sheilds working the body and head with strikes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sheilds tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Ken being controlled for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jake Sheilds wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Sheilds misses with a body shot.
Sheilds throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Ken gets caught flat footed, as Sheilds shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Sheilds stays in close to Ken's body and controls the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

We're going to have a standup here because Jake Sheilds wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Sheilds shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ken napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Kenneth Ken has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Sheilds is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ken is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sheilds moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jake Sheilds showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Sheilds has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
