Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jordan Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Francis Fernandez! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fernandez looks for a takedown but Jones sprawls well. Jones misses with the combination.
Fernandez closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Jones's guard. Fernandez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Jones wants to get back to his feet but Fernandez is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Fernandez trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Fernandez stands and steps away. Jones gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Fernandez doesn't manage to clinch there - Jones circles away.
Jones moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. A jab lands there for Jones. Fernandez moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones swinging wildly here.
Fernandez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away. A punch combination from Jones misses. Fernandez is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Jones misses with a few strikes there.
Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Fernandez shoots in looking for a takedown. Jones tries to sprawl out of it but Fernandez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jones manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Fernandez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Fernandez looking to improve position, pressing down on Jones's thigh with his hand. Jones seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Fernandez paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Fernandez's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Jones picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
