Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phil Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Phil Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ben Askren!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Askren changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Davis looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Davis on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Davis tries to get out of the position.
Askren throws an elbow but Davis slips to the side and avoids it well.
Askren lands a few punches from side control.
The ground and pound from Askren seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Davis is not content to let Askren control the position.
Davis is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Davis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Askren on the ground.
Askren lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Davis down.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Askren tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Askren has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Davis is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Askren asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Askren looks up at the clock and then as Davis takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Askren smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Askren is looking to take a break and control but Davis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



A momentary lapse in concentration from Davis enables Askren to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Davis manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Askren won't allow Davis to get back to his feet.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Askren accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ben Askren showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Davis is trying to stand up here but Askren is controlling him well.

Askren looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Davis with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.


Davis is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Askren working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Oh Davis is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Askren lands a nice short elbow.
Askren not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Askren moves into full mount! Davis won't be happy about that!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Oooh a big shot lands for Askren! Davis is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!
