The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fighters circling - Son throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Newking manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Son on his heels. He'll look to pass Son's guard now, I'm sure. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Son is looking for a triangle but Newking pushes his legs off easily.
Newking throwing strikes from guard but Son blocks nicely. Son trying to keep a closed guard but Newking is proving a slippery customer.
Newking trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Newking landing some decent shots from guard. Son is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
This has been an exciting period of action! Son keeping moving, preventing Newking from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Son looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Newking has picked Son up and slammed him! Son can't keep hold of the triangle and Newking manages to pass to side control! Newking trying to control the action but Son is working from the bottom. Newking is putting a hurting on Son here, landing some big shots from side control. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Son taking punishment in the form of punches.
Newking lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Son down.

Newking working the ground and pound. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Newking lands an elbow. Son takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Son looks gassed! Newking landing strikes.
Son is rocked! Son is trying to escape the position but Newking is controlling the position. Son is still in real trouble! Can Newking finish him? Newking scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Son is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Newking can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
