Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Conor Doyle! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chris The Great! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shigeki Fujiwara and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The Great moves away from the strike by Doyle. The Great connects with a body shot. The Great throws the left hand but Doyle avoids the punch easily. The Great throws a body punch but Doyle moves out of range. The Great swings for the body but Doyle moves out of range.
A combination from Doyle does no damage. Doyle gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Doyle keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Doyle takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. The Great is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Doyle rather than just go for the knockout. The Great uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Doyle. Doyle avoids the body shot from The Great.
The Great misses with a right hand and Doyle counters with a nice uppercut.
That's one minute gone in the round. The Great works Doyle's body with a nice hook. The Great moves away from the strike by Doyle. The Great shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Doyle sprawls well. Doyle wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. The Great gets slowly back to his feet. Doyle needs to keep his hands up - The Great had a free shot at his head there. Doyle ducks right into an uppercut from The Great. Doyle staying out of range there. The Great misses with a body shot
and Doyle counters with a stiff right hand. The Great missing with a left hand there. Doyle was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. The Great misses with a looping left.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Doyle misses with a left hand enabling The Great to counter with a crisp jab. Jab, jab by Doyle - just one landing. Nice uppercut there from The Great. The Great moves away from the strike by Doyle. The Great takes one to the chin there. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Doyle misses with the combination.
Doyle stuffs the takedown. The Great scores a takedown into full mount! The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. The Great won't let Doyle get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The Great tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The Great swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Doyle is now in The Great's guard. A big mistake from The Great there, giving up the dominant position! Doyle is posturing up here but The Great has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Doyle tries to roll out but it's too tight and Doyle has to tap! Slick submission there by The Great!
