Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joe Severs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Napper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Napper has chosen Cross That Line - Rick Ross as his entrance music. The key to victory for Joe Severs has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Danny Napper!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Napper shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Severs as he jumps to the side.

Napper shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Joe Severs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Danny Napper.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Severs, as that shot connected.
Severs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Severs scores with a jab. Napper acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Severs swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Napper.
Severs takes a swing at Napper's ribcage but misses.

Napper shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Severs but Severs pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Severs stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Severs looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Severs digs a good body shot into Napper's ribs.
Donk. Severs catches Napper right on the button with a cross.
Severs lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Napper backs up against the cage.
Napper has a takedown stuffed.
Severs thows a body shot but no joy.

Severs misses with a few strikes there.
Severs throws a jab but it's blocked by Napper.
Severs scores with a jab to the body.
Severs throws a hook to the side of Napper's head but Napper sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Napper fails to land the takedown.
Napper shoots for a takedown but Severs saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A jab from Severs does it's job there.

Napper closes this distance looking for a takedown but Severs circles away.
Severs lands a nice looking body shot.
Severs misses with a hook. Napper ducked under it nicely.
Napper on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Napper shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Severs sprawls well. Severs wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Napper gets slowly back to his feet.

Napper shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Napper wants to control from the top but Severs keeps moving.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Danny Napper hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

That was a close round but I would say that Joe Severs will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Danny Napper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Severs works the jab nicely.
Severs misses with a double jab.
Severs thows a body shot but no joy.
A big left from Severs misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Napper.
Napper avoids the body shot from Severs.
Napper throws a low kick but it's checked well by Severs.

Napper slows the pace down in half guard.

Napper seems to be looking for submissions.
Napper takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Severs tries to kick Napper off but Napper keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Severs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Napper on the ground.
Severs wants to get back to full guard.
Napper wants to free his trapped foot but Severs is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Severs is trying to maintain the position but Napper is very close to passing his half guard.
Severs is looking for a sweep. Napper is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Napper not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Napper is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Severs is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
