PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Rosholt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jebediah Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reed has chosen Eighties as his entrance music. Jebediah Reed told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tony Rosholt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jebediah Reed!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reed throws an off balance right hand
enabling Rosholt to counter with a crisp jab.
Reed misses with a shot to the body
and Rosholt counters with a nice uppercut.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Reed ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rosholt moves away.
Reed throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Reed's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Reed duly obliges.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rosholt rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Rosholt takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Rosholt misses with a right hand
and Reed counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Reed misses with a shot to the body
and Rosholt counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Rosholt rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Reed counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Rosholt misses with a hook
and Reed connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Reed swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Rosholt.
Rosholt misses with a left hand
letting Reed counter with a right hand.
Rosholt takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Rosholt throws a right hand that misses
and Reed counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Rosholt getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

Rosholt misses with a hook
and Reed counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Rosholt keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Reed throws a poor cross that misses
and Rosholt counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Reed throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rosholt moves forwards but Reed connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Tony Rosholt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rosholt throws a poor cross that misses
and Reed counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Reed fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rosholt looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Rosholt just misses with a punch to the body.
Rosholt fails with the takedown
and Reed counters with a lovely straight right hand!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jebediah Reed dominated that round.
That's time! Rosholt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Rosholt bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rosholt happy to just control the position for now.
Reed wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Sloppy strikes there by Rosholt.

Rosholt tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rosholt has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Rosholt is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Rosholt works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Rosholt is trying to ground and pound but Reed uses the momentary lack of control by Rosholt to regain half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Rosholt wants to lay and pray for a moment but Reed keeps working.
Reed wants to get back to his feet.
Still in half guard, Rosholt seems content to control.

Rosholt trying to control the action but Reed is working from the bottom.

We're going to have a standup here because Tony Rosholt wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Reed misses with a body shot.
Rosholt throws a right hand that misses
and Reed connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Reed lands a slapping body shot.
Reed throws an off balance right hand

and Rosholt counters with a nice double leg into side control. Reed won't be happy with that.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

and Reed counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Rosholt bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rosholt wants to control but Reed is keeping him busy.
Reed is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Rosholt has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Reed managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Rosholt.
Rosholt wants to lay and pray for a moment but Reed keeps working.
Rosholt creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Reed sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Rosholt happy to just control the position for now.
Rosholt misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rosholt trying to control the action but Reed is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The ground and pound from Rosholt seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Reed takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Rosholt goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Reed rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Rosholt's guard! Nice work there by Reed!
Reed trying to control the position from guard on top but Rosholt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Reed wants to stand and escape but instead Rosholt has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Rosholt wants to control from the top but Reed keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rosholt thows a big elbow that misses.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Reed can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rosholt controls the pace.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tony Rosholt showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Rosholt has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
