PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cow Boy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Albert Wesker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cow Boy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Albert Wesker!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boy gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
letting Wesker counter with a right hand.

Wesker tries to sprawl but Boy drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Boy is trying to control. Wesker wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Wesker wants to control but Boy is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Boy thows a huge punch but Wesker dodges it nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wesker keeps working.
Boy working over Wesker with some ground and pound. Wesker looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Boy prevents Wesker from standing back up.

Wesker is defending against the submission attempts here by Boy.
Wesker is looking to escape.

Boy drops an elbow to the side of Wesker's head.
Wesker wants to get back to full guard.
Boy is keen to just control but Wesker is a slippery customer.

Boy is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Wesker gets back to full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Wesker has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Boy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Boy wants to control from the top but Wesker keeps moving.
Boy stops Wesker from standing up.
Boy trying to control the position from guard on top but Wesker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boy trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Wesker wants to stand and escape but Boy is having none of it.

Boy is looking to work some ground and pound but Wesker has wrist control.
Wesker keeping moving, preventing Boy from controlling successfully.
Wesker is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Boy trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Cow Boy wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Wesker fails to land with a series of punches.
Cow Boy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boy swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Wesker counters with a head kick. That will keep Boy thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Boy moves out of range as Wesker strikes.
Wesker moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Boy shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Wesker is in trouble now - Boy has advanced to mount!
Wesker tries to lock up and control but Boy gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Boy looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Wesker tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Boy with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cow Boy dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Boy walks into a straight right hand from Wesker.
Boy fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Boy fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Wesker avoids it really well and circles away.
Wesker should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
A jab from Wesker does it's job there.
Boy doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Wesker connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Wesker throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Wesker circles away from the clinch attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nice sprawl there from Wesker as Boy shoots in.

Wesker lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Wesker moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Boy with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Wesker to score with a decent uppercut.
Wesker has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Wesker pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Boy back to the cage. Wesker follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Wesker lands a head kick. Boy smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Wesker scores with a head kick. Boy tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Boy dodges the punch combination from Wesker.
Wesker lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Boy backs up against the cage.

Boy has taken the fight to the clinch.
Wesker avoiding damage as Boy throws knees to the body.
Wesker is trying to break free.
Boy fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Boy manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Boy is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Wesker pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Boy is keeping the position for now.

Boy is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Boy tries to reverse the position but Wesker maintains control.
Wesker lands a big shot there that rocks Boy but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Boy is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Wesker throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Wesker throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Boy wants to control but Wesker is having none of it.
Wesker looking to control but Boy is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Albert Wesker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Wesker lands with a kick to the ribs.
Albert Wesker seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Wesker throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Boy doesn't manage to clinch there - Wesker circles away.
Boy is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Wesker.
Left hook, right uppercut from Wesker.
Boy tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wesker swivels and escapes.
Wesker moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Wesker is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Boy stuffs the takedown.
Wesker lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Boy moves into the clinch successfully.

Boy goes for a takedown in the clinch but Wesker prevents it.
Boy tries to break the clinch but Wesker is controlling the position.
Wesker is trying to break the clinch but Boy has him pressed against the cage.
Boy jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wesker walks away with a smile on his face. Boy gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cow Boy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wesker throws a right and a left that both miss.
Nice jab there from Wesker.
Wesker thows a body kick. Boy tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Wesker cracks the inside of Boy's front leg.
Wesker feints a jab promting Boy to slip. Wesker then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Boy slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Wesker throws a series of strikes that have Boy backpedaling.

Boy drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Wesker wants to sweep but no luck.
Boy trying to control but Wesker is working from the bottom.
Wesker is looking to stand up but Boy isn't so interested in that idea.
Wesker tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Boy landing some decent shots from guard.
Wesker trying to keep a closed guard but Boy is proving a slippery customer.

Boy stands up from Wesker's guard - Boy perhaps looking for a knockout.
Wesker looks to land a combination but Boy avoids it well.

Boy closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Wesker wants to get back to striking at distance but Boy won't allow it.
Wesker prevents the takedown attempt.
Boy can't get the takedown.
Wesker is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Wesker tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Boy just stands there and leans against the cage.

Boy has a couple of punches blocked by Wesker.
Wesker tries to pull guard but Boy holds him up against the cage and eventually Wesker drops back down to his feet.

Boy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Wesker jabs at Boy's body.
Wesker lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Wesker.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Boy.
Wesker throws a head kick that Boy semi-blocks.
Boy misses with a takedown attempt - Wesker sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Boy tries to clinch up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Albert Wesker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Wesker has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
