McGruber is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Chevelle - Shameful Metaphors. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cannon stuffs the takedown attempt from McGruber. McGruber gets slowly back to his feet.

McGruber changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cannon tries to avoid it but McGruber manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cannon to the ground. Cannon escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Scotty McGruber seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cannon changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

McGruber tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cannon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten McGruber somewhat.

Cannon drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Cannon rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McGruber moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Cannon moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Cannon moves into range and connects with a jab.
Cannon connects with a body shot that sends McGruber's belly button to the back.
McGruber is trying desperately to land a takedown but Cannon is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for McGruber.

McGruber shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cannon pinned against the cage. Cannon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
McGruber shoots in for a takedown but Cannon shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
McGruber moves away from the strike by Cannon.
Cannon lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

McGruber tries to keep at a distance but Cannon has taken the fight into the clinch.

Cannon lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of McGruber backwards.
McGruber fails to pull the fight into his guard.
McGruber wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

McGruber jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Cannon walks away with a smile on his face. McGruber gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

McGruber is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cannon.
Cannon cracks McGruber with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Cannon looks to land a left hand but McGruber moved out of range nicely.
McGruber looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Cannon connects with a right hand. McGruber shakes it off.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cannon lands with an uppercut that bounces McGruber off the cage and back into rage.
McGruber takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Cannon lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

McGruber is rocked!
Cannon lands a nice hook to McGruber's body. McGruber takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
McGruber is still on wobbly legs! Can Cannon finish him?
Cannon lands a slapping body shot.
Salvador Cannon is winning the standup battle so far.
McGruber walks straight into a right hand from Cannon - that's dropped him! Cannon jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save McGruber from any more punishment! McGruber complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
