Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Oscar Hernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Melendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hernandez comes to the cage accompanied by Cocteau Twins - Song to the Siren. Melendez has chosen Why Try as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Oscar Hernandez! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Melendez! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hernandez circles away from the clinch attempt.
Melendez on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Hernandez. Hernandez obviously looking to wear him down.
Hernandez has Melendez up against the cage in a clinch.
Melendez fails to pull guard.
Melendez is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Hernandez is keeping busy. Melendez stalling the fight.
Both guys are working to get underhooks. Hernandez landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Melendez manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Hernandez postures up.
Melendez is controlling Hernandez's posture. Melendez looking for a sweep. Not yet Melendez, not yet. Hernandez wants to control from the top but Melendez keeps moving. Melendez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hernandez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hernandez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's one minute gone in the round. Melendez trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Melendez trying to control the position.
Hernandez throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Melendez looking for a guillotine here but Hernandez defends easily.
Hernandez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Hernandez gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Good leg kick by Hernandez there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Melendez moves forwards but Hernandez connects with a nice, crisp jab. Chris Melendez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hernandez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hernandez prevents Melendez from improving his position. Melendez looks gassed! Hernandez is trying to control the action in half guard but Melendez is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Melendez looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Hernandez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Hernandez wants to get back to his feet.

Hernandez thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Hernandez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Melendez on the ground. Melendez is trying to get back to full guard. Hernandez wants to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Melendez wants to hit a switch here but Hernandez passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Melendez there! Melendez tries to hold on but Hernandez pushes him away. Melendez is looking to improve his position but Hernandez isn't that keen on the idea. Melendez in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Melendez is wriggling around trying to escape.

Melendez is rocked! Hernandez cracks Melendez with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
