Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Ibanz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Ibanz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Don Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ibanz is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Johnson.
Left hook, right uppercut from Johnson.

Johnson closes the distance and pushes Ibanz back into the cage.

Johnson pulls guard successfully.
Ibanz has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Ibanz wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.
Ibanz keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Johnson's head.
Ibanz trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Johnson controls Ibanz momentarily but Ibanz frees himself.
Ibanz looking to sit in guard and control but Johnson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ibanz is looking for a triangle but Johnson pushes his legs off easily.
Ibanz on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ibanz tries to get out of the position.

Johnson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ibanz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johnson has managed to get both his arms back between Ibanz's legs - danger averted.
Ibanz wants to sweep but no luck.

Ibanz working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Johnson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Johnson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Johnson won't allow Ibanz to sweep him here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Johnson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ibanz, up you get!

Johnson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ibanz sprawls well initially but Johnson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Ibanz looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ibanz trying to control but Johnson postures up.
Ibanz pushes Johnson off but Johnson dives into side control.
Ibanz is breathing heavily.
Ibanz is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Johnson is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Johnson controlling the pace for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ibanz is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Ibanz is working hard here to advance position.
Ibanz has decided that throwing punches whilst being mounted is the best he can manage just now.
Johnson sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Don Johnson dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Ibanz misses with a takedown attempt

and Johnson counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Ibanz trying to control but Johnson postures up.

Ibanz wants to control the action here but instead Johnson manages to pass to full mount!
Johnson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Johnson wants to control the action but instead Ibanz gets a body lock and reverses into Johnson's guard! Nice work!
Ibanz tries to free his leg and advance position but Johnson is retaining full guard.
Johnson keeping moving, preventing Ibanz from controlling successfully.
Johnson is looking to stand back up but Ibanz counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Johnson.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Ibanz works his way into full mount!
Johnson tries to hold on but Ibanz postures up.
Ibanz trying to control but Johnson is having none of it.

It looks like Don Johnson has been cut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ibanz raining down hammerfists from mount.

Ibanz goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Johnson turns into him and now he's in Ibanz's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Johnson sitting in guard here, content to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Johnson stands and steps away. Ibanz gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Ibanz moves into the clinch.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Johnson moves into range and clinches up with Ibanz.
Ibanz tries to score a body lock takedown but Johnson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Johnson keeps control of Ibanz as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Johnson blocks an uppercut.
A hook to the body from Ibanz.
Johnson has had enough of the clinch but Ibanz keeps him there for the moment.

Johnson breaks from the clinch.

Johnson instigates a clinch.

Johnson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ibanz uses from the top position.

Ibanz looking to sit in guard and control but Johnson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Don Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Don Johnson's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Johnson looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Ibanz looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Johnson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Johnson won't allow Ibanz to sweep him here.
Ibanz is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ibanz trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Johnson gets to his feet. Ibanz looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Johnson lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Ibanz bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Johnson wants to control but Ibanz postures up.
Johnson manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Johnson pushes Ibanz off and gets back to his feet.
Ibanz tries to clinch up
and Johnson counters with a flying knee. Nice.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Johnson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ibanz's guard.
Johnson wanted to stand there but Ibanz had control of the position.

Ibanz is working an open guard so Johnson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Johnson scores with a jab to the head.
Jason Ibanz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Ibanz shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Johnson napping and manages to drive through into side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ibanz throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Johnson works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Ibanz throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Ibanz trying to control from Johnson's half guard. Johnson has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Johnson keeping moving, preventing Ibanz from controlling successfully.
Ibanz looking to sit in guard and control but Johnson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Johnson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ibanz trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Johnson stands up and waves to Ibanz to follow him.

And that's the end of the fight!
Don Johnson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Johnson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
