Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Patricio Rujo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Belcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Patricio Rujo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Michael Belcher! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rujo throws a right and a left that both miss. Belcher tries to clinch and Rujo counters with a takedown into side control. Belcher defending against the ground and pound. Belcher is trying to get back to half guard. The ground and pound from Rujo seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Rujo is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Belcher will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Belcher gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Rujo has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Belcher tries to hold on but Rujo pushes him away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Belcher is squirming around, avoiding Rujo's attempts to control the action. Rujo lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Belcher is bucking up trying to escape but Rujo cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Rujo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Belcher can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Rujo sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Belcher defending well though. Rujo stops Belcher from getting back to his feet.

Rujo thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Rujo working over Belcher with some ground and pound. Belcher looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Belcher is not content to let Rujo control the position. Belcher tries to get to full guard but Rujo has control of the leg. Belcher looks gassed! The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Belcher is refusing to be controlled, as Rujo sits in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rujo is working for a submission of some sort.
Rujo slows the pace down in half guard. Rujo is trying to control the action in half guard but Belcher is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Belcher is defending against the submission attempts here by Rujo.
Rujo works his way into side control. Rujo in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Rujo lands a decent elbow from side control. Rujo controlling the position. Rujo lands a few punches from side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Belcher throws a lazy head kick and Rujo counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Belcher is staying active underneath Rujo, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Rujo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Belcher has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rujo is working away from the top position though. Belcher tries to roll over but Rujo keeps him under control. Rujo looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Rujo is trying to control. Belcher wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Belcher is breathing heavily.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Patricio Rujo wasn't doing enough on the ground. Rujo shoots in looking for a takedown. Belcher tries to sprawl out of it but Rujo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Belcher manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Rujo could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rujo throws a nice head kick!
Rujo is looking to clinch. Belcher shoots and misses and Rujo counters with a nice body kick.
Rujo forces Belcher back against the cage and clinches. Rujo scores with a shot to the side of Belcher's head. Rujo is trying to drag Belcher to the mat but Belcher just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Belcher is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Rujo is keeping busy. Rujo jumps into guard, dragging Belcher to the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Rujo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Belcher doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Belcher manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Rujo throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Belcher is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Belcher preventing the sweep. Belcher wants to get up but he can't break Rujo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Rujo seems keen to control Belcher's posture. Rujo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Rujo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Rujo decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Rujo drives through and clinches with Belcher against the cage.
Rujo gets control of Belcher's arms and successfully pulls guard. Rujo will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Rujo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Patricio Rujo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Belcher is trying to get back to full guard. Rujo stands up from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rujo throws a leg kick which misses Belcher's front leg but catches the back leg as Belcher tries to avoid it. Belcher shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Rujo counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Rujo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Rujo throws a head kick that half lands.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rujo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Belcher is fending him off so far but Rujo persists. Nope, Belcher circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Patricio Rujo. That's going to take a lot out of him. Belcher has Rujo up against the cage in a clinch.
Belcher is looking to control Rujo's arms but Rujo gets an underhook and turns him. Now Belcher has his back to the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Patricio Rujo dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Belcher tries to close the distance and clinch but Rujo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Rujo misses with a few strikes there.

Rujo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref stands the fighters back up. Patricio Rujo wasn't doing enough on the ground. Belcher shoots and misses and Rujo counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rujo. Belcher keeping moving, preventing Rujo from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rujo gets to his feet. Belcher looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Rujo fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Rujo with a poor takedown and Belcher counters with a shoot takedown. Rujo fights it but they end up in guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Patricio Rujo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Belcher wants to control from the top but Rujo keeps moving. Belcher must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Belcher would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Rujo pulls Belcher in close to prevent any damage. Rujo will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Rujo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Belcher manages to get himself to full guard.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Patricio Rujo. Well Rujo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
