Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Keiji Hashimoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesus Quintana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hashimoto might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Chopin's Funeral March in B flat minor. Keiji Hashimoto could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jesus Quintana's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 8 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Keiji Hashimoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jesus Quintana!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Mauricio Rocha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hashimoto tries to land a leg kick but Quintana saw it coming and moves away.
Quintana misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hashimoto stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hashimoto wants it to stay on the feet.
Hashimoto connects with an inside leg kick.
Nice takedown defense from Quintana. No joy for Hashimoto on that attempt.
Quintana fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Keiji Hashimoto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jesus Quintana.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Quintana jumps guard and drags Hashimoto to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Quintana is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Quintana wants to hit a switch here but Hashimoto passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Quintana there!

Hashimoto fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Quintana is working to get back to half guard.
Quintana is squirming around, avoiding Hashimoto's attempts to control the action.
Hashimoto throwing strikes here but Quintana is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Quintana wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Quintana covering up well and avoiding damage.

Quintana is trying to break free.
Quintana wants to control his opponent's hands but Hashimoto gets his hands free.
Quintana staying busy and making it hard for Hashimoto to control.
Hashimoto gets his hands free as Quintana looks to control.
Hashimoto has the hooks in. Quintana is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Hashimoto keeps control of the position easily here as Quintana tries to buck him off.
Hashimoto seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Quintana for as long as he can get away with.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


A slapping leg kick lands for Hashimoto.
Hashimoto lands a slapping body shot.
Quintana checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Hashimoto throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Quintana sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Hashimoto swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Nice takedown defense from Hashimoto. No joy for Quintana on that attempt.
Keiji Hashimoto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hashimoto motions for Quintana to come forward. Hashimoto throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Quintana uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hashimoto.
Hashimoto catches Quintana with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Hashimoto tries for a takedown but Quintana sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Quintana shoots in for a takedown but Hashimoto shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Quintana throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hashimoto's waist but Hashimoto gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Quintana off to one side.
Keiji Hashimoto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jesus Quintana.
Hashimoto fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Quintana has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Hashimoto misses with a wild body shot.
Hashimoto throws a leg kick which misses Quintana's front leg but catches the back leg as Quintana tries to avoid it.
Hashimoto lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Hashimoto fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Quintana decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Quintana is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hashimoto keeping hold of Quintana's head, controlling as best he can.

Hashimoto pulls Quintana in close to prevent any damage.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Keiji Hashimoto has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Hashimoto connects with a leg kick. Quintana looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Quintana takes one on the chin but seems OK.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Quintana checks a leg kick.
Hashimoto scores with a decent looking hook.
Quintana stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Hashimoto.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Hashimoto throws a body kick that misses.
Quintana keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Quintana slips a jab from Hashimoto.
Hashimoto is looking to wear down Quintana with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Quintana tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hashimoto sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Quintana somewhat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hashimoto throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Quintana shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hashimoto as he jumps to the side.
Hashimoto tried to score with a low kick but Quintana checks it.
Hashimoto closes this distance looking for a takedown but Quintana circles away.

Quintana feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Jesus Quintana has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Hashimoto is pulling down on Quintana's head. It's preventing any offense from Quintana, at least for the moment.
Hashimoto wants to stand up but Quintana is controlling him.
Keiji Hashimoto overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hashimoto is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Quintana defends well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hashimoto lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Hashimoto does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Quintana lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Keiji Hashimoto is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Hashimoto scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Quintana doesn't seem bothered though.
That kick from Hashimoto tenderised Quintana's leg. Quintana is trying to keep his angry face on.

Quintana shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hashimoto as he avoids it easily.

Quintana takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Keiji Hashimoto showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hashimoto, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
