The key to victory for Steven Ransom has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paasilinna shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Paasilinna is trying to work for a kimura but Ransom is defending well.
Paasilinna wants to free his trapped foot but Ransom is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Ransom looks like he's trying to stand up.
Paasilinna looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Paasilinna is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Ransom wants to get back to his feet.

Paasilinna looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Paasilinna is trying to control the action in half guard but Ransom is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ransom pushes Paasilinna off looking to stand but Paasilinna dives back in and keeps control.
Paasilinna is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ransom is just riding it out for now. Paasilinna eventually gives up the hold.

Ransom is looking to escape.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ransom tries to clinch but Paasilinna moves out of range.
Ransom fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ransom moves in looking to clinch but Paasilinna pushes him off.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Ransom wants to clinch up but Paasilinna keeps it at a distance.
Ransom misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ransom throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Paasilinna shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Paasilinna trying to mount his opponent but Ransom defends it.
Ransom is trying to stand back up but Paasilinna is controlling him
Paasilinna is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ransom is just riding it out for now. Paasilinna eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Paasilinna wants to work for an arm triangle but Ransom is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Paasilinna works his way into side control.
