Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bas Coenen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ted Wanknsily! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coenen tries to clinch and Wanknsily counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Coenen has his foot on Wanknsily's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wanknsily works his way back into a safe position though. Wanknsily passes easily into side control. Nice work. Coenen tries to improve position but can't. Wanknsily working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Coenen is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Wanknsily is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Coenen looking for submissions off his back. Coenen actively working from the bottom here. Coenen is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Wanknsily pulls his head out easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Still in half guard, Wanknsily seems content to control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Coenen actively working from the bottom here. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Wanknsily in particular looking to stall.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Coenen looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Coenen is breathing heavily. Wanknsily content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Ted Wanknsily was stalling too much, according to the referee. Coenen tries to clinch but fails miserably and Wanknsily moves into the clinch. Wanknsily successfully pulls guard.
Coenen slips nicely into half guard. Wanknsily wants to control but Coenen is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wanknsily missing with punches from the bottom.
Coenen seems to be working for a kimura but Wanknsily defends the submission attempt. Wanknsily really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Coenen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Coenen is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Wanknsily has managed to free his arm - good work. Wanknsily is looking to escape. Wanknsily is looking to control Coenen's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Wanknsily avoid being mounted? Coenen seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Wanknsily is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
