PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Piston Hurricane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jenson Crowder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jenson Crowder will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Piston Hurricane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jenson Crowder!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Crowder gets caught napping as Hurricane dives in and scores a takedown. Crowder manages to retain guard.

Crowder is trying to keep Hurricane in close.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Piston Hurricane.
Crowder shoots for a double leg takedown but Hurricane sprawls well. He's pushed Crowder's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Hurricane counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Piston Hurricane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jenson Crowder.
Crowder tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hurricane just stands there and leans against the cage.
Crowder is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Hurricane pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Hurricane drags the fight down to the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jenson Crowder was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Crowder shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hurricane pinned against the cage. Hurricane gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hurricane. Crowder does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hurricane changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Crowder tries to avoid it but Hurricane manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Crowder to the ground. Crowder escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Hurricane has taken the fight to the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hurricane has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Crowder uses from the top position.
Crowder wants to control from the top but Hurricane keeps moving.
Crowder sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hurricane's guard.
Hurricane gets back to full guard.
Hurricane keeping moving, preventing Crowder from controlling successfully.
Crowder throws and elbow that misses. Hurricane uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Crowder's guard. Nice move by Hurricane!

Hurricane is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Crowder is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Piston Hurricane just wasn't active enough.
Hurricane stuffs the takedown.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hurricane tries to score a power double leg takedown but Crowder sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hurricane somewhat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Piston Hurricane dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Hurricane stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hurricane wants it to stay on the feet.

Piston Hurricane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jenson Crowder.

Hurricane gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Hurricane has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Crowder is trying to keep an underhook but Hurricane manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Hurricane seems to be working for a kimura but Crowder defends the submission attempt.

Hurricane frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Hurricane takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Crowder takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Crowder is squirming around, avoiding Hurricane's attempts to control the action.
Hurricane controlling the pace for now.
Hurricane prevents Crowder from getting the reversal.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hurricane controlling his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hurricane is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Crowder is in real trouble.

Crowder covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Hurricane controlling the position well here. Crowder rolled but Hurricane kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Hurricane working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Crowder is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Hurricane has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Crowder taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Piston Hurricane!
