PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Professor F (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kent Hytten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). F comes to the cage accompanied by shortest man in world. The crowd seem to be enjoying Hytten's choice of entrance music: Wait and Bleed. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 8 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Professor F!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kent Hytten!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hytten swinging wildly here.
Sloppy strikes from F. Those never looked like landing.
Hytten fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
F fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hytten manages to avoid it.
F uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hytten.
F throws a series of punches but Hytten moves out of range.
Hytten throws a head kick that misses.
Hytten is looking to slow F down with leg kicks.

F bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
F lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Hytten down.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
F is working Hytten over with some ground and pound from side control.
Hytten avoids any damage from the ground and pound of F.
F working the head with strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
F working away.

F is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hytten has escaped the position, nice work there.
Hytten tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but F wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hytten is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Hytten is trying to stand up here but F is controlling him well.
F working the head and body with strikes.
Hytten tries to roll over but F keeps him under control.
F thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hytten's head.
Hytten trying to control but F postures up.
F looks to land a strike but Hytten avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
F with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hytten kicks F off and gets to his feet.
Hytten turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Excellent takedown into side control there by F.
Hytten is looking for a sweep.
Hytten avoids any damage from the ground and pound of F.
Hytten has one of F's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
F is trying to ground and pound but Hytten uses the momentary lack of control by F to regain half guard.
Hytten wants to improve his position but F is controlling well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

F seems to be looking for submissions.
Hytten avoiding damage under a succession of punches from F.
F has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

F is looking for a kimura here.
Hytten looks like he's trying to stand up.
Hytten makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hytten.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hytten is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hytten is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Hytten slows the pace down in half guard.
F is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hytten stops F from getting back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
F is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hytten's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hytten's back!
Hytten trying to get back to his feet but F is in full control for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Professor F dominated that round.
That's time! F's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


A combination from Hytten does no damage.
F lands a nice shot to the body.

F throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hytten tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. F is in Hytten's guard.
F connects with a couple of short punches.
F throwing strikes from guard but Hytten blocks nicely.
Professor F overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
F with a flurry of punches that miss.
F throws a strike but Hytten rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

F looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hytten sitting in guard here, content to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
F tries to land a sweep but no joy.
F being controlled here, momentarily.

F had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hytten defends it easily.
Hytten trying to control the position from guard on top but F is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

F looking for a guillotine here but Hytten defends easily.
Hytten wants to get up but he can't break F's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

F is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

F throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Hytten got a little sloppy there for a moment and F has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hytten has managed to get both his arms back between F's legs - danger averted.
Hytten controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

F isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hytten stacks F on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hytten!

F is looking for a sweep.

Hytten decides to stand back up. Hytten steps back and let's F get back to his feet.

F rushes Hytten and presses him up against the cage.
F taking a breather.
F controlling the action here for a moment.
Hytten misses with an elbow strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
F displaying some good clinch control by pressing Hytten up against the cage.
F trying to control the position but instead, Hytten has worked for underhooks and has pushed F into the cage.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hytten misses with an elbow strike.
Nice elbow from Hytten.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Professor F dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


A thudding body kick lands there by Hytten!
F tries to clinch but Hytten is having none of it.
Hytten connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
F shoots in looking for a takedown. Hytten tries to sprawl out of it but F keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hytten manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
F stalks Hytten and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hytten's face. Hytten staggers backwards, shaken.
F thows a body shot but no joy.
F misses with a series of wild punches.
Hytten thows a body shot but no joy.
Hytten leaves F with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
F tries for a takedown but Hytten sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Professor F. That's going to take a lot out of him.

F shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Hytten keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Hytten wants to get back to his feet.
Hytten is trying to control but can't.

F is working for a kimura here but Hytten manages to reverse the position and he's now in F's guard.
Hytten advances position into side control!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hytten is looking to take a break and control but F is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
F is trying to improve his position.
F is working hard here to advance position.
Hytten is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Kent Hytten has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
F is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
F sneaks back into half guard.
Hytten wants to get back to his feet.
F is not content to let Hytten control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Kent Hytten wasn't active enough on the ground.
Hytten throws a good cross that connects.
Some bone on bone action there as F checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
F tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hytten swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Hytten finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
F tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hytten was well out of range. Poor timing from F.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
F misses with a body shot.
Professor F seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
F ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hytten moves away.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Kent Hytten.
I think F has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
