Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hulk Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hogan's entrance music is The real American. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hulk Hogan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hogan backs up against the cage.


It looks like Hulk Hogan has been cut.
Hogan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hogan misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mir.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mir.
Mir is looking to clinch.
Hogan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hogan throws a head kick that misses.

Mir shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hogan manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Hogan is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mir is aware though and is defending well.
Mir looking to pass the guard.
Mir postures up in Hogan's guard and throws a big left but Hogan blocks it.

Mir gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Mir fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hogan sprawls well initially but Mir persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Mir slows the pace down in half guard.
Mir is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Hogan is trying to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hogan is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mir pulls his head out easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mir wants to take a breather but Hogan is having none of it.
Hogan wants to sweep but Mir has passed to side control!
Mir connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Hogan some visible discomfort.

Mir stands up and we're back to a striking position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mir looks for a takedown but Hogan sprawls well.
Mir tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hogan swivels and escapes.
Hulk Hogan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Mir.

Hogan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mir's waist but Mir gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hogan off to one side.
Mir tries to clinch but Hogan moves out of range.
Mir shoots in but no luck this time.
Hogan defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mir.
Hogan has a takedown stuffed.

Hogan shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hogan was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Mir keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hogan scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Hogan looking to control but Mir is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Mir tries to hold on but Hogan postures up.
Hogan scoring with strikes but Mir is staying in there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mir tries to lock up and control but Hogan gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Mir dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Hulk Hogan's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


A nice combination there by Hogan.
Mir is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hogan sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Mir winds up and cracks Hogan with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Mir is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hogan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mir.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
It looks like Mir is going to stand back up.

Mir seems to be working for a kimura but Hogan defends the submission attempt.
Hogan missing with punches from the bottom.
Mir wants to take a breather but Hogan is having none of it.
Hogan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Mir is keen to just control but Hogan is a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hogan is looking for a sweep. Mir is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Mir stands up and beckons Hogan to join him on the feet.
Hogan tries to bum rush Mir with a series of wild strikes but Mir uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Hogan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mir's waist but Mir gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hogan off to one side.
Mir thuds a left hand into Hogan's body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mir drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mir gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Mir changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hogan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Hogan is trying to improve his position.
Mir lands a nice forearm strike.

Mir goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hogan rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Mir's guard! Nice work there by Hogan!
Hogan won't allow Mir to sweep him here.
Hogan stands up over Mir, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Hogan is looking to work some ground and pound but Mir has wrist control.

Mir not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Mir is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Mir looking for a sweep. Not yet Mir, not yet.
Hogan trying to control the position from guard on top but Mir is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mir is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mir is trying to keep Hogan in close.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Mir showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Nice sprawl there from Mir as Hogan shoots in.

Mir closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Hogan parries the strikes from Mir easily there. Mir is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Hogan to escape.

Mir is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hogan has escaped the position, nice work there.
Mir trying to control the action but Hogan is working from the bottom.
Hogan tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Mir is putting a hurting on Hogan here, landing some big shots from side control.
You can see the frustration on Hogan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Mir throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Mir trying to control the action but Hogan is working from the bottom.

Mir wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hogan, who protects the arm well.

Hogan can't do much from the bottom here.

Hogan pushes Mir away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Mir gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Mir stands up and beckons Hogan to his feet.
Hulk Hogan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mir closes the distance and clinches.

Mir slows down the pace here.
Hulk Hogan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hogan is trying to drag Mir to the mat but Mir just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Mir manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Mir has his foot on Hogan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hogan works his way back into a safe position though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hogan chips away with some ground and pound.
Mir is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
Frank Mir comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mir has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
