PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Forrest Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griffin comes into the arena with Killing In The Name blaring out of the sound system. Foster is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Friggin In The Riggin. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Forrest Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeremy Foster!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Foster throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Foster throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Griffin misses with a few strikes there.
Foster slips under a jab from Griffin.
Griffin tries to score with a low kick but Foster moves his leg out of the way.
Griffin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Foster throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Griffin's waist but Griffin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Foster off to one side.
Griffin takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Griffin misses with a head kick.
Foster shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Foster waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Griffin.

Foster closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Griffin did well to prevent Foster getting side control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Griffin is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Foster is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Foster thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

We're going to have a standup here because Forrest Griffin wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Griffin loads up on a big right hand but Foster slips the punch.
Griffin fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Foster throws a body punch but Griffin moves out of range.
Griffin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Foster goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Griffin blocks a low kick nicely.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Foster throws a looping overhand right but Griffin ducks down to avoid it.
Foster lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Foster looks to land a right hand but Griffin moved out of range.
Griffin misses with a straight right.
Griffin on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Foster connects with a body shot that sends Griffin's belly button to the back.
Foster scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Griffin leaves Foster with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jeremy Foster seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Griffin works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Griffin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Foster.
Foster looks to score with a jab to the body but Griffin is just out of range.
No joy there for Griffin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Foster has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Foster throws the left hand but Griffin avoids the punch easily.
No joy there for Griffin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jeremy Foster will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Griffin tries to bum rush Foster with a series of wild strikes but Foster uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Griffin throws a series of punches but Foster moves out of range.

Foster thows a body shot but no joy.
Foster swats away the attempt to clinch by Griffin.
Griffin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Foster closes the distance and clinches up with Griffin, looking for a takedown. Foster pushes Griffin against the cage but Griffin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Foster avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Griffin moves away from the strike by Foster.
Foster lands with an uppercut that bounces Griffin off the cage and back into rage.
Foster throws a head kick that misses.
Foster tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Griffin was well out of range. Poor timing from Foster.

Griffin fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Foster is out of range.

Griffin is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Griffin has closed the distance and engaged Foster in a clinch.
Griffin blocks a body shot from Foster.
Foster drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Forrest Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeremy Foster.
Foster lands a right hand that snaps the head of Griffin backwards.

Foster jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Griffin walks away with a smile on his face. Foster gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Griffin tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Foster is able to avoid easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jeremy Foster showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Foster drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Foster jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Griffin is looking to control Foster's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Griffin avoid being mounted?

Foster takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Foster throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Jeremy Foster comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Foster has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
