Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Abelinha Amarela! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, The Renegade! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Matheus Silva and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Amarela has a takedown stuffed. Amarela closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Amarela is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Renegade will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Renegade tries to buck Amarela off but Amarela is having none of it. Amarela controlling the position from side mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Abelinha Amarela just wasn't active enough. Amarela swats away the attempt to clinch by Renegade. Amarela dives in and scores a takedown into Renegade's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Amarela slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Renegade really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Amarela. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Amarela forces his way into half guard. Renegade wants to control but Amarela is keeping busy.
Renegade is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Amarela's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Amarela's back!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Renegade thows a strike but Amarela uses the opportunity to reverse the position! Great move by Amarela as he ends up in Renegade 's guard! Amarela in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Renegade utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Amarela wants to pass the guard but Renegade is keeping the position. Amarela is looking to work some ground and pound but Renegade has wrist control. Amarela working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Amarela is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Amarela pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Renegade is keeping the position for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Amarela stays in close to Renegade's body and controls the position. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
We're going to have a standup here because Abelinha Amarela wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Amarela will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Renegade gets caught napping as Amarela dives in and scores a takedown. Renegade manages to retain guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Abelinha Amarela dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Renegade tries to clinch but Amarela is having none of it. Renegade doesn't succeed with the takedown and Amarela counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Renegade working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Amarela. Amarela trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Renegade can do anything to dispel that myth. Amarela pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Renegade is keeping the position for now. Amarela passes easily into side control. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Amarela throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Amarela throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Amarela just content to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
We're going to have a standup here because Abelinha Amarela wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Amarela doesn't succeed with the takedown so Renegade counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Renegade postures up in Amarela's guard and throws a big left but Amarela blocks it. Amarela manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Renegade wants to hold on but Amarela pushes him away. Renegade is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Abelinha Amarela overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Amarela unloads with some shots from mount but Renegade bucks and avoids them well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Amarela sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Abelinha Amarela dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Amarela shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Renegade as he avoids it easily. Amarela shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Renegade manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Amarela passes into half guard. Amarela seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
That's one minute gone in the round. Amarela works his way into side control. Amarela slows the pace down.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Amarela throws a strike aimed at the side of Renegade's head but Renegade avoids it well. Amarela looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Renegade can't do much from the bottom here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Amarela scoring with punches from side control. Renegade is letting Amarela control him for a moment. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that's the end of the fight! Abelinha Amarela showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Amarela, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
