4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mordecai Wollsey! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Emerson Jorge and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wollsey throws a body punch but Springs moves out of range. Springs misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wollsey.
Wollsey swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Nice uppercut lands for Wollsey. That snapped Springs's head back.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Wollsey, as that shot connected.
Springs keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Wollsey. Good exchange - Springs coming out on top. Wollsey misses with a wild body shot. Springs tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Wollsey was well out of range. Poor timing from Springs. Springs fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Wollsey moves out of range as Springs strikes. Wollsey misses with a wild body shot. Wollsey displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Springs throws out the jab. Springs misses with a looping left.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wollsey loads up on a big right hand but Springs slips the punch. A shot to the liver by Springs. Beautiful body shot. Springs jabbing away but nothing is landing. Mordecai Wollsey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Springs moves away from the strike by Wollsey. Springs uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Wollsey. Springs shoots in but no luck this time. Wollsey takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Wollsey scores with a jab. Springs acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Wollsey uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Springs.
Springs ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Wollsey throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Springs's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Springs duly obliges. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Springs misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wollsey.
Wollsey dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Wollsey lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Springs is looking to wear down Wollsey with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Wollsey fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Springs throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Wollsey sees it coming and avoids it easily. Wollsey thows a left - swing and a miss! Wollsey throws a jab when Springs was well out of range. Springs on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wollsey cracks a nice hook into Springs's ribs. A left and a right from Wollsey both land. Nice combination. Nice defenses there by Wollsey. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Wollsey throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Springs's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Wollsey connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Springs scrambles back to his feet. The fighters circling - Wollsey throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Springs misses with a looping left. Wollsey throws an overhand right that lands on Springs's shoulder, as Springs tries to avoid the shot. Wollsey lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Springs at a distance.
Wollsey misses with a hook. Springs ducked under it nicely. Wollsey throws a right and a left that Springs avoids nicely.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Springs looks to land a left hand but Wollsey moved out of range nicely. A jab from Wollsey misses. Good exchange - Springs coming out on top. A telegraphed right hand from Wollsey misses the target. Wollsey showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Springs.
Good standup being displayed there by Wollsey as he connects with a hook. Wollsey lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Wollsey sizes up Springs with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Wollsey moves out of range of the body kick from Springs.
Wollsey throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Springs stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Springs lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A telegraphed right hand from Wollsey misses the target. Springs misses with a combination
and Wollsey counters with a lovely straight right hand! Wollsey ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Springs moves away. Wollsey misses the shot to the body. Wollsey connects with a crisp jab. Springs misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Wollsey.

That's seven minutes gone in the round. Springs is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Springs shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Wollsey looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Wollsey misses the jab. Springs tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wollsey sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Springs somewhat. Springs takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Springs chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Wollsey can pounce on him.
Springs feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Wollseys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Wollsey throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Springs on the side of the head. Springs walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wollsey moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Wollsey misses the jab. Springs uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Wollsey. Springs tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Nice shot lands for Wollsey. Wollsey is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Springs had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Wollsey misses with a wild body shot. Wollsey throws a body punch but Springs moves out of range. Wollsey lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Wollsey works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Springs is rocked! Wollsey connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Oh Springs is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Springs slips under a jab.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Good exchange - Wollsey coming out on top. Wollsey slips under a jab. Springs throws out a loose jab but Wollsey uses good head movement to avoid it. Wollsey cracks a nice hook into Springs's ribs. It's a brutal combination of punches from Wollsey! Springs is backing up but he can't get away as Wollsey lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Springs and ends the fight. Great knockout.
