Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rob Duncan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hikaru Sato! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Shimada and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Duncan tries for a takedown but Sato sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Sato throws a nice inside leg kick. Sato throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Duncan. Sato throws a body kick that misses. Duncan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sato manages to avoid it. Duncan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sato moves away. Nice shot by Sato.
It looks like Rob Duncan has been cut. Duncan takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Sato throws a head kick that half lands.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sato tries to bum rush Duncan with a series of wild strikes but Duncan uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Duncan steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Sato. That one must have hurt. Sato misses with an attempted mid kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sato scores with a hook. Hikaru Sato is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Sato goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Sato moves out of range as Duncan throws a body kick.
No luck for Duncan with that takedown attempt. A left and a right from Sato both land. Nice combination.
Duncan is rocked! Sato dances in with a quick combination. Duncan is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Sato snaps Duncan's head back. Duncan stumbles backwards against the cage. Sato steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Duncan's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Duncan just didn't come prepared.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Hikaru Sato!
