Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bret Hicken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tito Ortizz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bret Hicken! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tito Ortizz! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ortizz misses with a looping right. Hicken scores with a nice right hand.
Ortizz shoots in looking for a takedown. Hicken tries to sprawl out of it but Ortizz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hicken manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Ortizz tries for a takedown but Hicken circles away easily and Hicken counters with a flying knee that sends his opponent to the canvas! Hicken looking to finish! Ortizz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Hicken loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Hicken postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. This has been an exciting period of action! Hicken trying to control but Ortizz is working from the bottom. Hicken has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Hicken postures up in Ortizz's guard and throws a big left but Ortizz blocks it. Hicken is fighting to break Ortizz's control of his arms but Ortizz is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Hicken slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Ortizz keeping moving, preventing Hicken from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hicken sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Bret Hicken has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Ortizz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hicken sprawls well. Hicken wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ortizz gets slowly back to his feet. Bret Hicken has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tito Ortizz. Ortizz shoots and misses and Hicken counters by clinching up. Hicken throws a head punch that misses. A nice right hand lands inside from Hicken. Hicken scores with a shoulder strike. Ortizz is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Hicken gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Hicken working aggressively here.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Hicken creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Ortizz wants a takedown but no success here.
Ortizz lands a hook to the side of the head. Ortizz is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Hicken misses with the head strike.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A shot in the inside from Hicken. Hicken swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Ortizz tries to score a body lock takedown but Hicken shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Ortizz looks gassed! Hicken lands a left hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ortizz goes for a takedown attempt but Hicken pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Hicken throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Ortizz slips a jab from Hicken. Hicken looks for the body kick but Ortizz saw that one coming. Ortizz takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Hicken is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Ortizz shoots in for a takedown but Hicken shows good takedown defense. Hicken closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Ortizz wants a takedown.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hicken scores with a shoulder strike.
Ortizz is rocked! A short right hand to the side of the head by Hicken. Ortizz is still on wobbly legs! Can Hicken finish him? Hicken scores with a hook to the body. Hicken can't find room to land a body shot as Ortizz controls the action.
Hicken lands a hook to the side of the head. Hicken throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Come on Hicken - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Hicken lands an uppercut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hicken prevents the takedown attempt.
Hicken lands with a short head shot on the inside. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Hicken. Hicken lands with a left to the head. Hicken scores with a shot to the side of Ortizz's head. Hicken lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Ortizz to his knees! Hicken keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bret Hicken!
