Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Suki Jaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raphael Mekki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Raphael Mekki told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Suki Jaki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Raphael Mekki! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jaki throws a series of punches but Mekki avoids them all with ease. Jaki looks for a takedown but Mekki sprawls well. Mekki fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jaki avoids it really well and circles away. Mekki fails with the takedown. Jaki has a takedown stuffed. Jaki lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Jaki displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mekki. Suki Jaki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raphael Mekki. The fight stays on the outside here - Jaki looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Jaki leaves Mekki with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Mekki shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jaki as he avoids it easily. Mekki keeps the fight on the outside. Jaki shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mekki pinned against the cage. Mekki gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Jaki shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mekki but Mekki pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mekki shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jaki defends it nicely. Mekki darts in and clinches Jaki up against the cage. Jaki gets underhooks to prevent Mekki's takedown attempt.
Mekki gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mekki looks gassed! The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Mekki is thwarting Jaki's attempts to control the position. Jaki has his hands clasped together around Mekki's back. He's all about the action. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jaki throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Jaki moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jaki is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Jaki has hold of Mekki's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Mekki manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jaki wants to finish this one by submission but Mekki is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Jaki.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jaki working for a guillotine from mount but Mekki is in no mood to give up. Jaki jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Mekki manages to avoid the submission attempt. Jaki is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mekki has escaped the position, nice work there. Jaki stands up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mekki changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jaki tries to avoid it but Mekki manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jaki to the ground. Jaki escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Jaki shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mekki as he avoids it easily. Jaki looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Jaki passes easily into side control. Nice work. Jaki is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mekki has escaped the position, nice work there. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jaki tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Suki Jaki dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mekki. Horrible takedown by Jaki or perhaps it was just good defense by Mekki which made him look bad. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mekki. Mekki fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Suki Jaki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raphael Mekki. Mekki looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Jaki is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mekki sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Raphael Mekki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jaki shoots in but no luck this time. Mekki shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Mekki is breathing heavily. Jaki shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mekki but Mekki pushes him off and we're back to square one. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mekki is defended easily by Jaki.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jaki keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Jaki closes the distance and clinches up with Mekki, looking for a takedown. Jaki pushes Mekki against the cage but Mekki circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Jaki fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! No luck for Jaki with that takedown attempt. Jab from Jaki. Jaki slaps away a takedown attempt from Mekki, before circling back to the center of the mat. Mekki shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jaki as he jumps to the side. Donk. Jaki catches Mekki right on the button with a cross. Jaki shoots in and drives through. Mekki sprawls well. Mekki shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mekki throwing strikes but Jaki bucks up and reverses the position. He's now in guard on top. Mekki throws and elbow that misses. Jaki uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mekki's guard. Nice move by Jaki! Jaki sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mekki's guard. Jaki is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mekki doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jaki. Mekki is defending against the submission attempts here by Jaki.
Suki Jaki overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Jaki is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mekki doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jaki. Jaki is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mekki can do anything to dispel that myth. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jaki seems to be working for a kimura but Mekki defends the submission attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mekki fails with a takedown attempt. Jaki jabs Mekki right on the nose. Mekki blinks but takes it well. Jaki lands a really nice looking cross but Mekki seems unphased.

Jaki dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
