PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Damian Wolfe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chester Gates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Gates's choice of entrance music: American Badass - Kid Rock. Chester Gates has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Damian Wolfe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chester Gates!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Anthony Taglia and Eddie Farnsworth.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gates tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wolfe paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Gates keeps the fight on the outside.

Wolfe shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Wolfe was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Wolfe tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Wolfe unloads with some shots from mount but Gates bucks and avoids them well.
Wolfe controlling the position easily from mount.
Wolfe's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Wolfe goes for an armbar but Gates turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Gates.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gates trying to control but Wolfe is working from the bottom.
Wolfe wants to improve his position but instead Gates has moved into half guard.

Gates escapes and gets back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wolfe fails to land the takedown.

Wolfe instigates a clinch.
Wolfe is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Wolfe escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Wolfe clinches up against the cage.
Gates misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Wolfe wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Wolfe manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Wolfe wants to get back to striking at distance but Gates won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gates breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Wolfe throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gates.
Wolfe changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gates tries to avoid it but Wolfe manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gates to the ground. Gates escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Wolfe lands with a kick to the temple. Gates shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

It looks like Chester Gates has been cut.
Gates misses with a double jab.
Wolfe tries to close the distance and clinch but Gates swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Wolfe throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gates avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gates shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Gates looks gassed!
No luck for Gates with that takedown attempt.
Gates slips a jab and a cross from Wolfe.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wolfe lands a jab to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gates tries to keep at a distance but Wolfe has taken the fight into the clinch.

Wolfe breaks the clinch.

Wolfe moves into range and clinches up with Gates.
Gates fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Damian Wolfe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chester Gates.
Wolfe wants to get back to striking at distance but Gates won't allow it.
Gates lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wolfe tries to break the clinch but Gates is controlling the position.
Wolfe gets through Gates's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wolfe takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Wolfe tries to clinch but Gates moves out of range.
Gates throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Wolfe wants to clinch.
Gates misses with a series of wild punches.
Gates backs away from a small jab...but Wolfe lunges forward with a huge superman punch! Gates crumples to the ground as his mouth piece is sent flying! Wolfe with a spectacular finish!
