The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Bones. No joy for Santos on that attempt.
Santos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bones tries to avoid it but Santos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bones to the ground. Bones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Santos shoots in but Bones avoids the takedown attempt easily.
John Bones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rodrigo Santos.
Santos looks to land a combination but Bones avoids it well.
Santos gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Bones drops back, looking for a kneebar! Santos looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Santos looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Santos!
Santos tries to move into full mount but can't pass Bones's legs.
Santos tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bones tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Santos wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bones, who protects the arm well.
A lull in the action here.
Bones wants to control but Santos postures up.
Santos has an Americana. Bones didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Santos is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Santos hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
