The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson shoots and misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Schmellengartner stuns Jackson with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Jackson shoots in for a takedown but Schmellengartner shows good takedown defense.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Schmellengartner.
Jackson shoots in looking for a takedown. Schmellengartner tries to sprawl out of it but Jackson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Schmellengartner manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Frenk Schmellengartner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shane Jackson.
Jackson tries for a takedown but Schmellengartner sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Jackson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Schmellengartner has Jackson pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Jackson is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Schmellengartner - that's hurt Jackson badly! Oh, another knee lands and Jackson is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Jackson doesn't seem to be complaining.
