PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Evander Roy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Evander Roy has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Evander Roy seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Evander Roy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shane Williams!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


It looks like Evander Roy has been cut.
Williams avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Roy closes the distance looking to clinch
and Williams counters with a left and a right that stings Roy.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Williams fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Roy.

and Williams counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Roy dodges the punch combination from Williams.
Williams shoots in but Roy avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Williams counters with a shoot takedown. Roy fights it but they end up in guard.

Williams working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Roy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Roy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Roy gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Roy is pushing Williams up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Roy has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Evander Roy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
